I’m intrigued by the idea of adding a Pro-Q 4 style interface to all of the classic Softube EQ’s. Many of the old-timer engineers poo poo fancy graphics and insist that it is best to use and develop your ears when mixing. For a noobie like me, a combination of eyes and ears is best!

I got Cinematic Pads in one of the sales a few years back. Be aware that, while it includes some nice sounding pads, it is not a great fit within the EZkeys universe. The slow attack on a typical pad is at odds with most EZkeys midi which has a lot of rhythm and arpeggiation, etc.

I recently switched to Dorico. It is a very capable and robust program but there is definitely a learning curve. My advice is to fully embrace the Dorico working philosophy. Don’t try to swim upstream.

Hey Brian – Thanks for posting this! I picked up a three-part highly recommended series on symphonic orchestration. In total, it’s 30 hours of instruction which works out to just $1.00 per hour. A nice deal!

On one hand, it is amazing that the technology to recreate a human singing voice exists and is so far advanced! On the other hand I’m a bit horrified at how soulless and lifeless the voices sound.

I’m still using Pianoteq 6 Stage. It works great even on my old laptop. I’ve been meaning to upgrade to the latest version. It feels like I’ve been waiting forever for Pianoteq 9 to come out. When it does, I’ll upgrade to Pianoteq standard which will give me more options and an additional piano model. I think the new Kawai SK-EX sounds like a great choice!
