Sadly, “deeply sampled” does not mean full, natural range of timbral variation with velocity.  The timbre of 8dio instruments sounds the same whether a gnat lands on your keyboard or you drop an anvil on it.

And that’s why I rarely use Soundpaint; its VIs lack expression.  It’s a shame b/c it’s a really nice plugin!

FYI, it’s currently a public beta.

Thanks for posting the video. I’ve never thought of using Scaler in the way it’s being used in the video.

However, respectfully, I wouldn’t say that I was using it wrong.  I don’t think there’s just one right way to use it.  Personally I just play through the various presets and listen for something that’s inspiring.

Has anyone used the *new* LABS app offline for more than 30 days?

Apparently we now have to periodically sign-in online to continue using what was formerly a perpetuall offline VI.

Their website says that “It comes packed with over 7,500 loops including Native Instruments sound selections for the initial release!”

So maybe that’s the 15GB you were able to download?
