These will be increasingly less rare luckily. I would be out in the sun, but instead I’m at home. What a bummer…oh wait.

I decided to dust off the old major scale and make something more happy. Not bad, I might do it again.

Fun times in the studio. Inge dropped by, we had a little warming up whiskey and the rest is history. It came together pretty well, a bit more mellow this time. Suitable for the weather.

I hope these sunny days are becoming a theme. Well we are approaching summer of course, but living in The Netherlands that’s not a guarantee for good weather.

Cool sounds, cool melodies, cool drums. Pretty happy with this one. Just some nice music for a sunday afternoon. Some changes coming up soon. Might take a few weeks / months (knowing my change tempo), but really looking forward to the next chapter.

Synths & Sun. Recorded on sunday. You can barely see the cool light square thingie, but the video comes out way better (less lighting difference from the angles).

Spring is coming up, the sun is shining, so a little lighter jam today. Still enough synths, but the overall feel is somewhat happy. Happy can be cool.

I wasn’t really inspired to do something, coming off a pretty bad cold. But that’s the beauty of the studio, it helps you out.

Decided to use the Sub37 for some lead work. There is a reason this is my desert island synth. It does everything. Beautiful sound and overall very nice jam. It came together nicely.

A bit unreal, but I’m over 1000 subscribers on Youtube now. Might seem nothing to a lot of people, but I think it’s awesome.

Someone opted for the name ‘cosmic techno’. We’re getting there. Enjoy the music!

Fun one! I am happy with all the drum layers, it really drives the jam forward. Some nice synths and voila, a great afternoon.

I’m really pleased with this one. It came out rolling nicely. I tried some experimental arp settings which worked well. Overall just a nice flow. No special hypes or drops, just melodic techno.

It’s getting dark early, so what’s better than switching on my gear and getting some music done?! Nothing, that’s right! Nothing really fancy but I do like all the sounds coming together.

The weather outside is frightful, we’re going to see Hans Gruber fall from Nakatomi Plaza and my hyperspace cube thingie is providing all sorts of cool lights.

This came out as a mellow piece of music. Some nice tones, nothing harsh or dark. Some lovely vocals by Inge and that concludes a fun session.

Normally I record on a saturday, but this was an sunday jam. Does it matter? No not really. Just a bit of useless information to fill the description. The strings are a Minilogue XD patch. It has some sort of violin vibe. Sadly I forgot to save the patch.

Perhaps the pads on the Prophet 6 were a bit too overpowering, but all in all a fun little jam. Some nice sounddesign, nice beats, fun result.

Very fun jam. It came together pretty quickly. Sounds, melodies, the lyrics, the whole package. Nothing really more to add than thanks to Inge.

Somehow all the synths combined with the pedals decided to make really dreamy sounds. From the Lyra-8 through the Walrus Audio Sloër, to the Minilogue XD through the Empress Echosystem and the Matriarch with lots of noise. I went with it and made a hazy dreamy chill jam.

So, how does this work? I have a starting point patch on the Sub37 which is called “jam” or something similar. From there I tweak a bit to get to a good sounding patch pretty quickly. By accident I recreated a patch which I used a lot 2 years ago. I love that sound.

Experimenting some more with the pedals. I put the Lyra-8 through the Walrus Audio Sloër, and giving the pedal some bursts of more mix percentage really gave life to the drone. I guess that’s another trick learned!

I’ll admit, it was getting a bit late and we had a couple of drinks. Sooooo, not our finest work but I think one of the most fun ones. For us. Plenty of mistakes but who cares.

Great work, I like the twist with the traditional instruments.

I think the vibe was just right. In the beginning light and almost upbeat. But then that growling Sub 37 kicks the door in and starts having a go. Very nice jam if I say so myself. Not really special but just nice enough to knod your head to. Fun one!

Just a fun summer analog techno studio jam. One camera oversaturated because my camera knowledge is non-existent. Lot’s of drums and analog synths to get you through the day.

A bit more straightforward but nontheless a pretty cool result I think. The beats work, the synths work, the Malevolent delivers a beautiful arp and the Moog Sub37 can do these raw drones.

Live vocals, one take, analog goodness and at least one of us had the decency to dress up (hint, it’s not the guy in sweatpants). Cool session, no set structure. We were both like “alright let’s see where this one goes”. Of course there is some idea because all the building blocks are there, but still.

This one had a really nice vibe to it. Dreamy sequences layered with your more straightforward synths in the middle. All with a hard hitting beat and lots of drums layers. Sadly my phone (1 of the cameras) stopped recording after 3 seconds while adjusting it, so…1 less angle. Could be worse.

I almost have my patchbay setup complete. Just a little short of 100 meters of cables to go. And this was the first time I hooked up the Behringer Spice. This was the second time I switched the Elektron Analog Rhythm mk II on, just on whatever kit was loaded. I did a bit of sounddesign and created the patterns, nothing too fancy (yet). It plays really well with the rest. And of course a Hulkenberg cap! First podium!

I was in a bit of a rush on recording day, but it still came out fine. Some elements could have used a little more refinement and change / modulation. It’s just a nice calm track with a nice deep flow to it. Never really stopping, never really peaking. Good old sunday afternoon techno.

Thanks, I upped the reverb on the vocals for the second half of the track to make it sit a bit more in the background against all the synths. So it competes a bit less for space.
