Just received this in my mail:
Information about the free update of your Cubase Pro license
Thank you for recently activating your Cubase Pro license! Good news: Since you activated it after October 9, 2024, the license has been updated to Cubase Pro 14 for free as part of our Grace Period program. As soon as the new version has been released, it will be available in the Steinberg Download Assistant under “My product downloads”. Have fun with it!

Speculation that another Cubase release is round the corner.
Really liking some of the new features. I know quite a lot of these had been requested, so it’s good to see they’re listening.
This time more than usual I suspect. They had been asking across their forums and various platforms.

This is a nice surprise!
I had read at another forum that Steinberg had decided to change their release cadence to 18 months instead of 12 and get rid of the “.5” upgrades. I have a “sleeping” upgrade code still unregistered and it looks like this upgrade is “a good one”. I’m glad I didn’t have to wait 6 more months.
Now I won’t need the eLicenser anymore, which is great considering that services are being turned off in a couple of months. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why they released it now? to nudge laggards (like myself) into upgrading?

Do the updates from previous versions ever go on sale? If so, when typically are the sales periods?
Yes, they do. Around March I believe. If you purchase from a reseller forum, the key point is that the code matches the version you’re upgrading FROM, not what you’re upgrading to, which will always be the latest available, thanks to Steinberg’s generous grace period policy (I just sold an extra code I had for upgrading 11 to 12, which actually granted 14)
