Forums › DEALS › Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals › Getting too much email from some developers
I think this topic belongs here because of the hard work provided by Peter and the other Deal heroes who subscribe to hundreds of music software developers, distributors, deal websites etc.
I’m happy to subscribe in hopes of helping out here but some of the above are sending WAY too much email (I’m not writing about us posting DEALS – I’m mean the software developers etc). I’m involved with email marketing with some clients. I advise to be very careful about frequency.
I’m so often let down when I go to adjust my subscription and it’s all the email or none.
Agree it’s hard work to be more flexible about subscriptions.

Haha, that first sentence! What a schmoozer!
Your disappointment with the all-or-nothing choice is spot on. I completely agree with your observation. As long as they’re friendly and ethical — which most are — I cut small developers some slack in this area. Most of them are solopreneurs or, at best, have one or two partners.
The best we can do as customers is let the folks we buy from know why we’re unsubscribing or why we’re thinking about it. That is always how I’ve operated after advice from a college professor that when I don’t buy from a company that I otherwise like, that I tell them why I’m not buying from them. If they’re smart, they’ll listen. If they’re not, they won’t. As far as subscribing to tons of emails, I do subscribe to a lot. But I more greatly rely on several deal groups (that is what cclarry did) — and have trained AI to go through them — and then I work as a curator, selecting the deals I find best suited for our community. But I really wish I could hand that task off, as it’s really laborious; plus, with my tendinitis, it isn’t exactly a good thing for me to be doing.
If anyone sees this and wants to take over the job or even help a little, please PM me! It could really free me up to get a lot more done on advancing the site. I will do a one-on-one training session on how to do it most efficiently.
