Okay, I’ll just say the quiet part out loud.
We’ve reached a odd — even somewhat amusing — point where we have some members that are routinely grabbing the posts from here (our Deals forum) and posting them at the Cakewalk Forum. How do I know that for certain — beyond a shadow of a doubt? Well, it’s not merely the timing of the posts — get ready for it — my affiliate revenue reports recently showed that links on Cakewalk Forums had generated more than $6 US in earnings. Yes, some folks here copied my posts and the affiliate links too.
Now, I appreciate the contribution towards helping with the costs of this site, but here’s a suggestion: instead of coming to this site to copy LinkedMusicians posts and re–post them at the Cakewalk Deals Subforum, which is nearly dead at this point, why not bring more folks over here and post even more deals here (I’d love the help)? I feel very confident that BandLab is planning to close out the Deals forum, based on my emails with their social media manager, but also, the lack of activity there is surprisingly poor for a software brand valued at $425 million (a couple of years ago) and candidly, I’m surprised their CMO or investor relations manager isn’t demanding it be removed. It can really concern investors who stumble upon it.
In any event, while I realize I’m very invested (financially and emotionally) in this community, I hope you’ll consider inviting people over to LinkedMusicians, where we can discuss any product or service and not be censored. Where it’s run by regular users, not a billionaire who is okay with the forum manager making snarky and demeaning remarks to customers and forum users (the reason for my eventual departure, as I referenced in my final post there in what was the Curated List of Best Free Kontakt Libraries).
Anyhow, just food for thought. Of course, you can keep copying the deal posts here. But what happens when BandLab closes down the forum? Why not make the move prior to that and build this community?

And when I’m crossposting at Gearspace I’m luring them to LinkedMusicians!
Thanks, Fleer. I appreciate it.
One of our members — I won’t say which one — told me that he was banned from Gearspace for making harsh criticism against an advertiser. I actually never spent much time at their forum, but I have lurked there because their members do go really deep when it comes to discussing vintage analog gear. I think all of the big forums have their strengths and I think audio engineering focused depth seems to be Gearspace’s strength. I created this community around the deals even though I intended this site to be more comprehensive, but the guiding force was the friendliness of the core group of Cakewalk Forum regulars like yourself. The basic idea was to not accept toxic behavior — never give a pass to abusive behaviors– to cultivate a community where people show respect and decency to one another and abusive behavior isn’t just frowned upon, the community sees it as unacceptable. We’ve all become used to toxic behavior in social media and on composer and digital audio related forums. I loathe that and I think most of our community’s members do too. LM was created to be an envrionment that doesn’t give toxic behavior a pass. My belief is, when you create a healthier environment, people will be more free to express honest — both positive and negative experiences with the tools they use. Of course, a lot of folks aren’t going to be a fit. That’s understood too.
For you or anyone who wants to tell others about LinkedMusicians, beyond mentioning the deals, here are some ideas you can mention:
– The web’s largest curated lists of free sample libraries for Kontakt (full and the free player) and other free players. Our lists contain more than 500 free sample libraries, categorized by instrument type. All of them are libraries I personally have found to be high quality and worthy of recommendation, and tested over the past several years. The two lists are updated frequently, as much as several times in a week. Members get notified when new free reviewed and recommended libraries are added.
– Members can subscribe to the Deals Forum and be automatically updated on new deals via email.
– The Knowledge Hub is updated daily and contains articles from top audio production and industry magazines like Sound and Sound, Future Music, Billboard, American Songwriter, Songwriting, Music Tech…top music production, songwriting, and composing related podcasts and YouTube videos and much more, all free, all in one place.
– It’s a small community, but it’s committed to being a friendly place to all members, where people can engage in honest conversations without a concern of others trolling or attacking them for sharing their views and where positive and negative opinions and experiences with all developers and music-related brands are welcomed.
But for posting at other sites, for sites that allow members to post links to other music-making related communities, I’d suggest featuring the two below curated lists of free sample libraries. The Kontakt list is consistently the #4 – 6 most popular page on LM for non-member visitors and is the most shared deep link on the site.
