Firstly, I am not telling anybody what they can or can’t do.
There are still a number of people who, when posting about Melda or United Plugins sales, are including their own personal referral codes. This gives first time buyers a discount on their purchases but also gives the poster credits. This has been discussed before, that the forum ends up with people posting masses of personal codes. Use mine, use mine. It says in the rules for this forum not to post Referral Codes or Affiliate links.
If anything, I would make the suggestion that people use Peter’s codes/ affiliate links. He is funding this forum by himself after all.
Here are two codes which appear to be generic and at the time of writing the United Plugins code works on sale items. I haven’t tried the Melda code.
Maybe even this is aginst the rules.
Melda Coupon 25% Off
Code: MP2025HB25
United Coupon 25% Off
Code: UP2025HB25
Anyway, I may just be a grumpy old man today but…yeah, I probably am.
I completely agree with what you wrote, @mrfigg. I’m waiting on @lamia6 ‘s referral codes — she’s coded this site, written custom plugins, she’s working on a plugin that will allow everyone to get daily digests of LM forum posts. She’s done all of this just because she’s a super kind, helpful, and thoughtful person — she’s never charged. If this site was a money making venture, I would have hired her long ago. So, I wanted to use her referral codes instead of mine (I already have more than enough stuff and I want to find ways to give something back to her).
Otherwise, through LinkedMusicians, we are affiliates for MeldaProductions and their company United Plugins. These are the refferal links. Everyone can use them and still use the coupon codes you have above and get the lowest prcies. (In the future, I may reach out to MedlaProduction’s team to get our own codes, but being completely open, we’ve never made any affiliate commissions from them to date, but LM has been growing, so I’m sure that will change in time).

@peter, is there a list of LinkedMusicians referral codes anywhere? I wouldn’t mind adding them to the links in my posts.
Of course, depending on the forum architecture, it might be relatively easy to add a checkbox saying “Add referral codes to links” and then they would be added automatically when the post is submitted.

There is a page up with affiliate codes for URLs, but I don’t have any official referral codes for LinkedMusicians. The affiliate stuff pays out money, which I keep separate so I can monitor the money spent on the site and how much it brings in. For big subreddits, Facebook groups, and YouTube channels, affiliate marketing can bring in a lot of money. But for a small community like this, the last I checked, Plugin Boutique had a total of less than $5 in total affiliate commissions for November. But my take is this, I’m trying to get into a routine of using this stuff as a habit to help fund the site and hopefully, to completely fund it before the end of next year.
Any referral codes I’ve shared — which are just for Melda, United Plugins, 8Dio and SoundPaint, just give me credits towards the stuff I personally by. I was hoping to use @lamia6’s codes, because she’s done a ton of work on this site without ever charging. From coding, troubleshooting, and fixes, to custom plugins. So I really would like to start using her codes and then I’ll just stick with the affiliate programs. She absolutely deserves something for how much she has done. This site might not even be up right now if not for her. She’s allowed me to do things I couldn’t afford.
Here’s the page with various ways you can support LinkedMusicians, but it’s really focused on the affiliate stuff, cash donations, and merch, like t-shirts, water bottles, mousepads, and mugs.

Having a script that automatically appends an affiliate code to a URL would be great to have, but it would require custom development that is far beyond the budget for this site and I am 100 percent certain that none exists for this platform, which I’ve shared in the private non indexed forums (I don’t want hackers finding that info in searches to target this site). However, I suppose — thinking creatively here — the most realistic and affordable implementation I could imagine is having a link when users are making posts that opens a small pop up or another window featuring a list of affiliate codes. Although even that would take custom coding skills that I’d need to hire someone for and I simply don’t have the budget for it. But if anyone here can do the coding, I’d love to see it happen.

I just added an item to our main menu (the bar on the left hand side) that links to our list of affiliate codes. You can append these to the end of a URL when posting deals and then any one who buys after clicking on that link will have a commission on their sale (commonly from 2 -15%) go towards the operation of LinkedMusicians. I’ll add in referall codes, but I don’t have any formal arrangements for referral codes at this point. The only codes I’ve posted simply give me a discounts on plugins I buy, so I have been more focused on the stuff that helps fund LM. I have asked @lamia6 if I can use her referral codes to show her appreciation for all of the many things she’s done on this site just out of kindness (she’s very talented at developing website and coding, so I enthusiastically recommend that anyone in need of a website developer to contact her; she’s extremely talented, and couldn’t be any more helpful or nice).

@peter, let’s make them separate lines for easier copying (then the whole line can be highlighted with a double-click). I’ve updated the post there, please check it.
FTR, the person @mrfigg was referring to was a member here and Cakewalk Forum and did the posts he was irritated about at Cakewalk Forum. The guy serially sneaks in his personal referral codes into posts and has been doing it at Cakewalk Forum for years, although I know Wokiee had stopped a lot of those posts and told the guy they were against the policy. Behind the scenes, when the guy did them here and I PMed him about it, he lashed out at me and just became a not very nice person. I parted ways with him today. I created this community as a passionate project. If someone comes here to play games, make attacks, cheap shots, and engage in sleazy practices — this is a guy who turns around and sells stuff people give away free — and especially if they’re going to be nasty to me after I inform that they broke rules, they’re just not a fit. FTR, He had a total of three policy violations before I banned him.
