In case you haven’t noticed, we’re posting a lot of deals. Easily 2 to 3 times the deals posted at Cakewalk Forum, which a lot of us came from. And we’re a passion project, not a forum owned by a billionaire that’s part of a $425 million software company. This is my passion project, a former semi-pro musician who is merely a hobbyist musician who was forced to stop performing more than 20 years due to tendinitis and only plays music for the love of it. This community is for the love of it and right now is a great opportunity to help it grow, simply be commenting in the threads.
Every month we’ve been growing our visitors by as much as more than 60 percent. But because there’s not a lot of comments in the threads, only a very small percentage of lurkers are registering, so we’re missing out on a great opportunity to grow our community. And because we’re not owned by a developer who is focused on using this to promote their company or make it a big money maker, our growth gives us a greater opportunity for a richer community that can be what we want it to be.
Personally, I want to have more conversations about writing, playing, and producing music — to go far beyond deals. But I also know a lot of developers, especially from giving advice to more than 3 dozen sample and plugin developers over the years. I haven’t contacted many of them to discuss this community because I know how important first impressions are, and I wanted to see greater interaction here before I invited them. But once we see more interaction, I promise to bring more indie developers aboard and that will mean more direct interaction and input / influence in what they do, more possibilities for exclusive deals for our community, and a richer community.
So please, comment! Even if it’s just to say you like or don’t like something. It can be short and sweet or long. If you own a sample library or plugin that is the focus of a deal, let us know what you think of it — good or bad. Your experience is valuable to others.
Thanks!
Peter

It’s very appreciated, my friend! If we can get more activity here, I will invite developers here — including some very beloved developers, that I know and have given advice to over the years, and I’m sure that I can work out exclusive deals for our community with them, even group buys. It’s a giant advantage that we have here, where it’s a grass roots environment as opposed to a developer-owned site or a large community that’s more driven by revenue it brings in. My love is making music and my heart is greatly with indie developers that have driven much of the innovation in the digital audio world and continue to do great work.
Well, if ever there was a post to respond to, this one seems like it. I pop in CW everyday and their Deals Section is good, but Linked Musicians sets the bar in terms of hunting up the deals. Bottom line: much appreciation and thanks to Peter for what he does.
Thanks.
I didn’t plan on handling deals when I started this site, my focus was to build out the site and focus more on content that educates and encourages people to play and produce music based on my own experience of giving up playing due to tendinitis pain and trying to play again after 20+ years after I was showing my son to play piano and realizing that I could play simple songs — like The Beatles and Coldplay. I thought that friend’s encouragement was an amazing thing and I thought, wouldn’t it be great if there were a community that didn’t have the toxicity so common at forums and social media where there was more encouragement focused on our mutual love of music.
I wanted to create a place that was very welcoming to everyone, where toxicity wasn’t tolerated. Where people could feel free to express positive and negative opinions of the products and services they use without being beaten into conformity, or where, like CW occasionally has with some of the regulars, people who make racist or bigoted posts are quickly made aware that behavior is not acceptable and either cease that activity or are no longer permitted to be part of this community. I’ll share that the foundation I had in mind for LM is based upon is “love one another.” I realize that’s a high bar, but that’s the bar I had/have in mind. To date, we’ve really only had several violations, which is surprisingly low when you consider that it’s been more than a year since we first launched our beta test group (Early Adopters) and it’s been several months since we opened to the public.
I thank you for being a part of it, @jude77.
Hello dear amazing Peter – and you really make wonderful place, where everyone is welcome, its really real non toxic community, for me best music forum on net, when i come back with love, if i have time, or bad day or good day, musicians here are very fine, user friendly… i think you made fantastic work / hard work /
