Choose the poll option that best represents your opinion. If you want to see feeds from your favorite blogs, please list them below the poll in a post.
I stay up on deals with emails PLUS — and most importantly — I have set up a single interface where I can see feeds that are regularly pulled from the deals shared at the major online composer, gear, and music producer forums, subreddits, etc. It also includes deals, coupon codes, and news release posts from various blogs and music publications.
Our Knowledge Hub includes feeds from the major music and music production publications and podcasts. Regularly updated publications include: Mix Magazine, Sound on Sound Magazine, Future Music, Music Tech, Billboard, NME, Alternative Press Magazine, Music Business Worldwide, Consequence of Sound, Stereogum, Spin Magazine, and NPR’s All Songs Considered.
But I don’t include blogs, because, candidly, most of them have become little more than shilling machines for developers and retailers (yes, I realize that I use affiliate links to help with the costs of this site, but if you look at this site, it’s not all about that stuff, deals are what drive a lot of people here, but they’re actually not my motivation for creating this community, and candidly, personally, they’re the part of the site I’m least interest in; I’m more interested in songwriting, production, music theory, deconstructing great songs and production, and conversations about all things music with my fellow community members). Having everything in one place helps you to quickly understand what’s going on in the industry right now.
I realize that not everyone here cares about music making related blogs. But if you do, would you like to have a feed of the latest blog posts from your favorite blogs here? And if so, what blogs would you like? Please comment below the poll to let me know which blogs you’d like to see posts from at LinkedMusicians.
This is my current list of high-quality blogs that aren’t primarily shilling machines for plugin developers:
