FYI, you get these same (non-Best Service) prices on NI’s website PLUS a (pretty useless) $25 voucher.
Studio One, Windows, RME UFX, Yamaha MSP7
I forgot to include a link to NI! Admittedly, I was dealing with some website issues and I was pretty tired when I created the original post. I just thought it was great that Best Service had the best prices.
Personally, this summer I picked up Komplete 15 Ultimate from Best Service before I joined their affiliate program, upgrading from Standard. If someone was doing that today, they’d save $8.15 and could further reduce that amount through any loyalty cash they had, while they’d be earning loyalty cash towards future purchases by using Best Service.
Of course, buying from Best Service or any of the retailers we (okay, it’s really just me) have an affiliate relationship with, means our community will save money and help fund LInkedMusicians. The reality of the situation is that I have a hosting contract for this site that is up in a few weeks and the tech team strongly recommends I upgrade the server because we’re seeing the site hit with spikes that have resulted in it going down on a weekly basis (I don’t know if you guys have noticed that or not; I was sending messages about it, but as no one has ever responded). So, I am faced with spending more money on a site where I’ve spent around $3,000, raised around $80 in cash contributions and merchandise sales and our affilaite revenue is making a difference, but, for example, for this quarter, I just checked how our biggest source of affiliate commissions is doing, and so far, it (Plugin Boutique) has brought in around $35 for this month, which is really promising. So the affiliate links are being used and they are what will keep the site around heading into 2026 — granted, we can definitely use cash contributions for those who are able and willing to help, but those have been pretty rare, so I think affiliate commissions are a much more realistic way to fund this site. And I’m not going to hold back, but I LOATHE the appearance of using affiliate links, even though that is what the big plugin and sample library deal groups — the subreddit and Facebook Group — use (FTR, because they don’t have costs like LM, and they’re getting huge amount of traffic, the subreddit could even be bringing in six figures a year; but with our community size, we’re unlikely to even reach $1,000 a year in affiliate commission in the year; but I didn’t design LM to be some kind of big money maker, I didn’t even prioritize the deals forum — I counted on someone else to deal with that who is no longer involved in our community; I did this site out of passion for music; to me the deals are only one aspect of this community, I really want to see us grow in content / discussion as the community grows in size, but I realize, today, most people are here for deals).
Anyhow, I digress. I’m looking for a new web host — a VPS — and if any of our members have strong recommendations, please PM me. I’ve been using Liquid Web and it’s been far from smooth sailing and the rates are dramatically going to increase at the end of the contract. Otherwise, sorry for the tangent, just know that I’ll also give the advice for the best savings, even if that means a non-affiliate link and encourage people to post a better deal — something the subreddits and Facebook Groups don’t allow. But when the best deal is an affiliate link, I hope our community will use them so this community can continue. The reality is, I can’t afford to fund it on my own through 2026. I hope, if our community members can save money and fund the site, it’s a win on every level.
