We visited a commercial studio recently and the owner who has co-produced with Phil Ramone told us that they run both ProTools and Logic. He and his engineer recommended Logic for our situation (mostly recording our own band). I agreed with that because an IT partner of mine moved to Logic after years of Cubase on PC’s and enthusiastically…Read More

The code worked just now (12:52 EST Dec 26) – I’ve been looking for an Antares alternative – this looks promising.

Thanks for this link – I got an email at the studio for that account to redeem the 25 Jam Points but hadn’t figured out why my personal account didn’t have the offer.

Someone mentioned that there is a 60 day grace period – It seems to good to be true that I could get the 25% discount and the upgrade for free – perhaps Pro-Q4 won’t be out for the next two months?

I always use Legends of Rock. It works well with edrums. We use the kit sometimes for jams. I run it “stereo” through a pair of EV 12 subs/Eon10’s. I have preset with the room mics lowered and a lot of adjustments such as bringing up the volume on the cymbals. It sounds quite a bit like an acoustic kit being played in the room. This never worked…Read More

Thing about Sonnox Oxford Limiter for $29. I use Waves Magic Mushroom, Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor and T-Racks One depending on what we are trying to accomplish with a mix. I also sometimes “post process” with Lurssen.
Anyone using (or used to use) the Sonnox Limiter?

Our family had a lot of fun with those games back in the day. Those LucasArts classics hold up well over time. Still fun to play and the artwork, animation and voice acting is first class

Thanks for that info – I figured that was the case, but you can always hope 🙂
Glad you’re happy with it – I’m thinking it will be worth it for me also. Glad you posted about it, I was unaware of the library.

Hi Peter,
While shopping the library on the Spitfire website I discovered there is a BF code for an extra 20% off. I wrote support asking for a code as I haven’t been subscribed to any of their marketing email.
Here’s the info on the extra 20% off:

Just finished listening to the Paul Thomson and Christian Henson YouTube videos about the Abbey Road Two: Iconic Strigs library. Then I watched Blair Borland who had many critical points but actually his video convinced me that this would be a good string ensemble library for me.
One of my first VST purchases was Miroslav Philharmonik 2. I’ve…Read More

Tempting – I’m on 19 through Humble Bundle. Pretty used to the software and can get multi camera music videos edited fairly quickly (aligned with mix down from multi track). What’s attractive in this version is automatic alignment of each camera’s track.

Done – love Nembrini amp sims – I practice bass through the B15N. It sounds and plays just like the actual Ampeg B15N bass amp.

I’ve read that Phil had elaborate amplification at one time where each string went to different amp/cabs in addition to bi/amp for low and high.

I’ve done a lot of reading on ProTools and downloaded ReaTooled which is a collection of SMS scripts and Reaper theme customizations that streamline audio work in Reaper. I have tried many themes and toolbars in Reaper but usually revert back to the default theme with my own toolbar customizations. ReaTooled is the first customization of Reaper…Read More

There is just one computer running Cakewalk in the physical studio. We’re using the AudioMovers ListenTo plugin (works very well for reasonable subscription) in the master channel to stream the mix to while he connects remotely using JumpDesk.
Setting up duplicates of the plugins on other pc’s would be a lot of ongoing work. There is some irony…Read More

We’ve been using Cakewalk with good results but someone who spends a lot of time mixing us thinks we should use ProTools. He doesn’t know it well but the arena filling band he manages uses it. We might benefit that he can have their audio engineer load up our mixes to look them over. Otherwise I would push for Studio One. Any thoughts on this…Read More

If you have 5 people that need multiple copies for their laptop and home desktops the Office 365 annual family plan is reasonable. I figured out over time (we usually upgraded by the 4-5th year) that $20 per year per user was reasonable. Not sure how much it’s increased the past couple of years.
Number one solution would be to buy a spool of Canare Quad and Neutrik XX connectors and make my own but I don’t have the time so I need to buy 10 25′ XLR cables for mic’s and monitors.
I bought a pair of Amazon Basic 50′ TRS to XLR male to connect my Behringer UMC202HD’s balanced 1/4 outputs to amps or the live sound rig. The cable is well made…Read More
