This Day in Music (from the LM Home Page; okay, technically this was yesterday!)
Louis Armstrong became the oldest person in UK pop chart history to have a number 1 hit with “What a Wonderful World” at age 69 on Apr. 24, 1968. Pretty impressive!peter posted in the group Open Mic (Open Discussion)
From WebMD:
“Why does music have such a profound effect on us? It may be that listening to favorite music activates the brain’s opioid receptors, according to a new study from Turku PET Centre in Finland, which used MRI and PET scan technology to look at the relationship between the density of opioid receptors and brain activity when listening t…Read Morepeter posted in the group Open Mic (Open Discussion)
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
What style(s) of music do you play and do you primarily use physical instruments or primarily use virtual instruments via MIDI?1 Commentpeter posted in the group Open Mic (Open Discussion)
LinkedMusicians is now open for public registration. Please tell your friends, find relevant ways to share in places where sharing is allowed. Otherwise, every part of this site is shareable, whether you’re here on The Wall and other Groups, on the Forums, Knowledge Hub, Free Instruments lists, or the blog, every page of the site can easily be…Read More

I see The Wall as being one of the most active parts of this community in the future. I believe if you give it a shot and use it for a while and get comfortable with it, you’ll see why. Yes, it’s basically a knockoff of Facebook Groups without the bad behavior you get on Facebook that I personally don’t want to deal with. Even more, because this…Read More

One of the features that was requested a lot for LinkedMusicians was to have the option for light mode and dark mode. Most of the time I use the site in dark mode, but occasionally use it in light mode. What's your preference?
Which mode do you prefer to use for the LinkedMusicians website?3 CommentsWhen I was putting together the specs for the site, one of the things that was really important to a lot of people was to have the option to choose light or dark mode. I think, however, the site evolves — and I’m a big believer that the site should continuously evolve and become more and more adapted to the community based on what we learn about…Read More
On a somewhat related note (okay, it’s totally a tangent), my daughter and I were on a long car ride and I put on a playlist of 90s tunes and I told her, “The singer in this band is the guy who wrote the Simpson’s theme song.” True story. Of course, he wrote the song with more than a little help from the Jetson’s theme song.…Read More

You guys asked for it, but I wasn’t able to do it on the forum. @fleer has asked for this many times, and now, I have finally been able to make it happen. Drum roll please…a thank you reaction! I shared the image below in this post, but you can now use a thank you reaction with any post or comment in GROUPS (formerly referred to as walls). I…Read More

Hey, it’s been a while since you were here. Say hello!
17 Comments@lamia6 Hi there! I just really like the feel of the social platform so much better than legacy forums for conversations. It’s much more like real-time/ real conversations. I realize that our early adopter group is largely used to Cakewalk Forum and the other legacy forums, but this format is so superior, IMO. I just enjoy using it for…Read More
@joegyork My guess is that you were looking at the ACTIVITY view and not The Wall itself. The ACTIVITY view shows you the latest posts on the site, but you need to click at the top of those posts to go to the specific places — the forum or the Group — if you want to make a comment.
I did create a video on this stuff when I was building the…Read More
It’s always good to see you, @jorge.

I’ve probably only started less than 10 projects that never saw the light of day (since 2010).
Currently have two in process (Citizen Regen) and maybe one Forum Monkeys if I can Daryl off the couch.
1 CommentYou should share your music here. Everything I’ve heard that you’ve played on has been really top notch. I want to put together a LinkedMusician radio / playlist this year. And no, FTR, I wouldn’t make the cut. But multiple projects of yours would absolutely be worthy and I know a lot of people here would enjoy at least one of your projects, if…Read More

I write a lot of transcriptions for my classical guitar ensemble class, but still can’t tell what makes for good ensemble piece until AFTER I complete the transcription. So, it takes about 5 pieces until I get one that’s really nice. The rest are just sort of nice,
I also use taxi.com to get original pieces into libraries. Here are the stats…Read More
1 CommentIf you’re game, you should share your music in the LM song sharing forum. I plan on putting up a LinkedMusicians playlist later this year including members’ music. I want this community to not just be deals but a place where we encourage one another in our musical endeavors. I’m planning to include a player with a playlist of our members’ music…Read More

Share a little about how often you start and complete music projects (e.g., songs, cues, etc.). Choose the response that is most accurate; share more detail in the comments.
How often do you create and finish a music project?1 CommentAbout my last comnet in the new thread.
Yes @peter, I tried to reply here and I didn’t find the possibility to write anything.
Strange, because I see now that I can do it.
I write here my comments:
In my case, none of the options.
Sometimes, I start a project but it doesn’t like the results and I don’t publish it.
In others I can be wor…Read More

I’m getting soooo many emails from plugin and sample developers that read something to the effect of “Black Friday is Finally Here!” Um, no, it’s literally not finally here. Even more, I’ve started getting these on Tuesday — which, according to my research, is still not Friday.

Hello, all ye Linked ones!
I am still trying to get a rhythm with the new forum but am very excited to see how much it has grown. I am cooking Thanksgiving for all of us this year so feel free to grab a slice of Thanksgiving Pizza!
Thankful for Peter and all of you who make this community so special.
Stay Joyful (and Thankful),
Simeon2 CommentsThat can’t be real, can it? Wait. I just googled it. It is real!!! Horrifying.
In any event, thanks for the kind words, @praisetracks.
I’ve started writing all different ways. Sometimes a lyric has popped into my head with a melody. Other times a melody with no lyric or a lyric with no melody. One thing I’ve always found is that once I get started, I can easily start coming up with riffs — that’s always come easy to me. I used to write for a band back in the day, now I have no…Read More

I should have anticipated this…This morning my right wrist is in a lot of pain from tendinitis. No doubt from my spending far too much time on the computer posting deals. I’m using my phone and may not be posting any more deals today unless my tendinitis pain improves.

99.999999999% of the time I play real basses. I only have 7 of them (down from 11). I only have 2 guitars (down from 4, and maybe down 1 more soon), I have real drums but I’m not a drummer and the only drummer I’m willing to have in my home to record now lives too far away to do that anymore, so I’ll probably be selling my Yamaha Oak Custom set…Read More
