How would you rate LinkedMusicians so far?14 CommentsHello Peter,
First of all, congratulations and thanks for the new page.
I had the problem of finding the save button when changing my avatar. I searched in vain for the save button until I pressed the crop button.
An automatic save – similar to changing the background – or a clear label for saving would be helpful here.@frank The reality of doing this on a budget of $1,000 US is that I’m using all off the shelf sofrware / scripts / plugins and the tool your using is pre-configured by a developer and I’d exceed my $1k budget with changing one feature and there are literally hundreds of them. I’m actually amazed what can be pulled off on that budget. I realize…Read More
I had to check “it’s just alright” at the moment. The big thing for me is that I can’t jump to new posts when I click on a thread yet. Most sites have this and it makes it super easy to see new activity instead of scrolling to get to the new posts. This, along with a “new since last visit” are pretty much dealbreakers for me as far as a regular…Read More
@release Can you post a couple of links to forums that do what you’re describing to that exact point who you feel get it right so I can better understand what you mean. While forum software is pretty cut and dry, I can always see if there’s anything and put the question to the team that developed it to see if there’s any customization I can do…Read More
Sorry, it return and I didn’t realize that also means “post thread”. LOL.
VI Control has Latest Posts
A lot of them also have a link in each thread to jump to new posts. On KVR, it’s red. Bandlab was a white dot. Gearspace has a green “New Posts” link. It just makes it much easier to get to the new info quicker.
Again, I have no idea…Read More
@release As far as adding functionality, it’s about the scripts and plugins that exist and how up to date they are. The reality of the situation is that all those other forums are for profit businesses that bring in 6 figures or better. I know Mike Greene and what he uses, which like BandLab is a SaaS and, no doubt, a for profit a SaaS is going…Read More
I have a script for unread posts that I want to try out. I realize it’s an important function for many people. If I implement it late tonight or tomorrow morning and tag you in another post in order to get your thoughts and invite others to share their thoughts on the new script, would you be open to it? That is, can you commit to trying it and l…Read More
Thanks, I’m probably not explaining it very well and I’m talking about 2 different things so I apologize for the confusion.
For viewing new posts within the threads….If you go into the Deals forum, (DAW, VI etc) and click on the “Pre-Public Launch Site Issues” thread, it opens on the very first post, and that’s expected….. even though I’ve…Read More
@Release There’s no question that the forums your talking about use forums that have that kind of functionality off the shelf in the platform for that functionality and the one I’m using doesn’t (unsurprisingly, I wish it did). So I have to go and look to see if there’s a developer who wrote the scripts or plugins that provide similar…Read More
I know we’re asking for things that just aren’t there, but it can’t hurt to ask. Feel free to reach out anytime.
I know how this can be overwhelming. I’m sure it’s consumed you for months now.
Like I said, thank you for doing this. It’s a LOT. And we’re all appreciative of the work you’ve done so far.
As far as you’re asking for things that aren’t there, don’t stop. I appreciate it. I’m grateful for your taking the time to go over this. It’s very helpful. And I’m definitely looking to make improvements on the read / unread function. I’m just trying to be candid that I’ve tried four different scripts
/ plugins and I don’t think any of them…Read More

Hey all, I just wanted to let you know that the Blue Checkmarks are back. Somehow they won’t appear on profiles, but they appear on Forum and Groups / Walls posts. I’m giving them out to everyone who is a part of the Early Adopters Group, so when registration goes public, we will always be able to easily identify who was part of this site fro…Read More

JD Souther, Singer-Songwriter Behind Hits for the Eagles, Dies at 78🤘
JD Souther, a singer-songwriter known for writing hits for the Eagles that included “Best of My Love” and “New Kid in Town,” has died, his longtime friend and veteran PR executive Larry Solters told TheWrap. This may come as a surprise. Although probably not to my real life friends or people who know me professionally.
BandLab’s social media manager and I have been having a series of conversations over several weeks and I’ve shared what I’m doing here and the negative impact one ill tempered and out of control employee has had on their brand — eve…Read More
9 CommentsI personnaly miss the old days of the Cakewalk forum. I truly enjoyed participating and helping tecnically when I could. I am sad not being part of the energy that made the Cakewakl experience for 5 years. Interacting with the devs was great. They are very competent and responded in the best way possible when bugs and new ideas were submitted.
@oldjoad Did BandLab do that or did you misunderstand what I did this morning? I’ve made several posts at the site — including a side wide notification for people to post in the private thread for two reasons (1) it keeps things more manageable for me to have things in a single place and not a bunch of threads, and (2) the issues thread is…Read More
@oldjoad Why did they do that? Was it an accident or intentional? It’s bizarre how BandLab operates. What’s up with billionaire trust fund kids and their businesses these days?

@peter I am still getting my feet wet but the overall design and layout looks very nice and clean. Overall I think things are off to a great start.

I just want to give a shout out to the person who rejected my friend request.
Seriously. It takes some major kahones to turn down the site owner’s friend request and I actually made a joke about this exact situation to my son when I was building the site. I actually thought it would be a pretty rock and roll move!#FightThePower (Oh wait,…Read More

After re-installing the system (plugin) that gives us this functionality, I wanted to get everyone’s thoughts. Do you like using this better than the previous version of GROUPS? This provides for a lot more than the design, but I just wanted to check in with everyone before I make another purchase.

Ruin a band name by changing one letter.
Example: Rash30 Comments@lamia6 I feel like my minor investment in this reaction plugin has paid off with my being able to use a laugh emoji for Marilyn Hanson — money well spent!

It’s been a while since I’ve heard much in the way of feedback. So, what are your thoughts on the site?
Do you like the new, upgraded editor for posting on the forum? Are things going well? Can you find what you’re looking for easily? To those who just came to the site, have you stopped over at the Deals forum and said hello to cclarry? Let me…Read More

A heads up — it’s going to get weird for as much as the next hour, as I am going to remove this theme and replace it. It may make the GROUPS fairly difficult to use and the Forum a bit odd looking. After the site is publicly released, I won’t be doing these tests on the live site, but at this moment, it’s saving me a lot of time. Things should…Read More

The number of members in our community reads 70 on the home page — but it’s really 67. A developer has one account for testing and fixes and I have two accounts I use for testing. But we’re coming along and these are almost exclusively folks we’ve all gotten know and enjoy from the Cakewalk Forum. So yeah, we are continuing to get the band back together.

Welcome to Simeon AKA @praisetracks
Like many others, I enjoy watching Simeon’s YouTube videos, especially when he goes on little musical tangents — playing familiar classics. Because the man can really play! Then I purchase the same libraries and think to myself, “Wait… something’s different. Hold on, I know. It sounded awesome when Simeon…Read More1 Commentpeter posted

8 CommentsWait, you don’t like Queen? Unfriended!
I kid, I kid. But Queen was awesome.
I became a Rush fan in HS and stayed one since.
I don’t know what it is with Queen, but I don’t really enjoy listening to their music for fun and pleasure. Strange, but that’s me.
Back in the day, REO Speedwagon and, for the most part, Van Halen. These bands were really popular when I was in HS. Add Kiss to the list a little earlier. Just plain terrible, IMO. I still won’t forget the day my closest cousin — who was like a brother — told me at around age 13, that he decided that Kiss was a better band than Zeppelin.…Read More
1, Hole: for some reason everyone was crazy about Hole and I just couldn’t get into it.
Their 1st Disk: Pretty on the Inside: was just awful even thought it was produced by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth (a band I love)

But when the 3rd…Read MoreI would side with you regarding Hole and Boston. While I always liked Boston, I think I took Brad Delp’s voice for granted and didn’t even realize how good his vocals were on those classic albums until many years later.
