Currently listening to…Radiohead.
Radiohead is one of the greatest bands of all time, IMO. They’re up there with my all-time favorite bands like The Beatles, Zeppelin, Yes, Genesis, and Steely Dan (okay, not really a band, but songwriters and a bunch of studio musicians). I’d consider The Beatles the greatest band of all time, but I’d…Read More

T-Shirts are great! Sorry I covered the graphic a bit. Shipped via USPS from San Diego the day after I ordered. Arrived in five days. Packaged in a heavy duty post recycled content plastic bag.

1 CommentOMG, I LOVE THIS!!!! That’s a great shot! I love the guitar, the shirt looks very cool. It’s just plain awesome!
And you beat me to getting merch. I’ve been waiting until my son is finished with his college finals and place an order for the whole family. Personally, I want this exact shirt for myself — and it’s actually my son’s favorite color…Read More

Overheard at my house today while watching a recent concert video of a band that my wife and I met in our dating days back in the 90s.
ME: Wow, that drummer really looks old.
DAUGHTER: True. But we still love you, dad.
ME; Ouch!peter posted in the group Open Mic (Open Discussion)
I am caught between these two names for the official LinkedMusicians stuffed bear. I want a name that's silly and fun -- and of course ties into the LinkedMusicians brand. Linkey does that, although it might lack enthusiasm. Shredward Van Fluffen is ridiculous, and I love that although I actually was never a Van Hellen fan -- it's simply the ridiculousness of it. I promise to include this bear in future photos and video. What do you think? If you have more suggestions, please post 'em! FTR, the name will only be shown on the listing, not the bear itself.

Tell me about an artist you really enjoy that’s not super popular that came out within the last decade or so.
There’s a bunch for me, but lately, I am listening to a lot of Madison Cunningham, and my wife is as into her music as I am. I would describe her sound as what you might come up with if you put the music of Jeff Buckley, The Beatles, and…Read More
19 CommentsSpring and Summer here means garden and yard work. The soundtrack of which (for me) is “Thump-a Thump-a Thump-a…” to keep me moving. Just the usual pop/EDM artists, I’m afraid.
Okay, well, I’m still interested. @bluescat, who are some of the artists you’re listening to? Is there anything you recently heard that you ended up putting on repeat? You might be listening to some music that I’m not very familiar with — and that goes for others here too. Please do tell! Even if it’s not new to us, it’s still interesting to…Read More
Dave Guetta (et al), Daft Punt, Deadmau5 Kaskade, etc for “Thump-a”. When I am in a reminisce mood, I put on some Beach Boys, Queen, Dire Straits, Doobies, Toto, CCR, Steely Dan… Gotta be up-tempo so I don’t fall asleep leaning on my shovel. I actually have a suntan going already. I’m gonna get kicked out of the nerd union.
I do have lawn to mow I need to find my earbuds. Yard work is a lot more pleasant when there are good tunes playing. I usually like something chill when i’m doing yardwork. Although, when the lawnmower is on, I might switch to something more aggressive to drown out the sound. I enjoy all of the bands you listed a lot — maybe with the exception of…Read More
/Drifting topic, this is the wall/ I used to use wired earbuds that fit well under my hearing protection muffs. I decided to buy some bluetooth buds with ANR for a recent trip so I wouldn’t have to lug my Sony ANR cans on the plane. I bought some Anker/Soundcore Liberty 4 buds and I love them. I was born with a birth defect in my inner ears. I’ve been through around a dozen surgeries. I have had a fairly serious hearing loss since I was a kid, because of that, very bad tinnitus and hearing-related issues that I don’t want to list publicly. It’s all part of why I look at the fact that with tendinitis, hearing loss, and tinnitus, I…Read More
Another incredible life performance. She’s won a Grammy, but still not very well known. Her guitar playing is killer on this too. It’s nuanced, it’s jazzy. The song goes from 4 to 7. It’s just such a great, locked in groove. It really makes me miss live performance.
Hi Peter & all – I’m back after just skim reading the activity log for a while as we have been away on a last minute holiday to Norfolk to take advantage of the amazing weather!

Millie Manders and The Shutup, it kinda reminds me of Pink. Good voice, and very catchy pop. Olcay Bayir does have a lovely voice! It’s cool how different these two bands are and you enjoy them both! I’m right with you. I don’t really care what genre something is, I’m open to all of it. Nice share!
yeah I’m as eclectic as owt 🙂 I went to see Saor, a death metal Celtic band, a few months ago! Those were two genres I would never imagine co existing. I prefer Olcay’s vocals though 🙂
What was odd was that I couldn’t reply to your comment @peter
When it hits 9 nested tables, you can’t reply to a reply anymore. Facebook and Reddit go 10. I’m not sure why this was written to stop at 9. I’m sure lamia6 could do a much better job of explaining it and why they might have stopped at 9 instead of 10.
Just go to the last spot where you can choose reply to keep things together. But I like the free flowing real time capability of the GROUPS. It’s clearly a knock off of Facebook. It’s far superior to the forum for free flowing conversations. The forum is great for storing things we want to share for a while with a large audience. But the GROUPS…Read More

I was made aware of the music of the profoundly talented Madison Cunningham around a decade ago. She’s the musical heir of Jeff Buckley in many ways, an artist I really greatly appreciated. Her music has been in my headphones for many hours when working on this site.

Help me to name the official LinkedMusicians bear. Your suggestions are encouraged. No matter how terrible. (I have been bouncing name ideas off my wife and she says they’re all terrible, so now I feel like I need to make more and more terrible suggestions to make her laugh harder each time).

15 CommentsI’ve turned to ChatGPT and the ideas are as ridiculous as the ones that made my wife laugh. Here’s some examples:
Bearoncé
Teddy Crescendo – Builds up the cute and the volume.
Mezzobearte – A pun on mezzo-forte, meaning moderately loud.
Bachbearato – Inspired by bel canto and Bach, with a hint of class.
FurrmatoI love that name @bluesdog. My concern is that it’s too close to Chuck Berry’s name that it would invite an action from Chuck Berry’s estate and Printify would likely reject it. So if we went with it, we would need to do a modification to make it more of a parody. Something like Churck Bearsly. But I absolutely love the name.
@antler How about Bearsa Major to go with the silly bear pun idea? Granted, yes, it’s ridiculously stupid — I want the name to be amusing. To be fun. To be a pun or a play on words related to music or an artist. Although it’s lame, an example would be Bearthoven.
Linkey?
It would be a tie-in with the name of the community. Oh well, that’s all I have for today. Keep posting ideas! I’ll do the same.
I actually wasn’t even thinking of Link Wray — hahaha. I was more inspired by Homer Simpson and his stupid naming of things and animals, like Stompy the elephant. But if we added a last name, I’d want it to really add something to the mix, and while I loved the ChatGPT suggestion of Shredward Van Huffen (ift gave me around 100 other suggestions,…Read More

1 CommentMy kids are huge Star Wars fans. I felt kinda bad that this refers to them as nerds. But it’s all in fun. My kids know that I love them — and I also love Brubeck’s music — and Joe Morello was one of my favorite jazz drummers. I met and got to hang out with Buddy Rich and Louie Bellson, and never met Joe, but his drumming always connected with me.

Madison Cunningham is an amazing talent. She represents one of the times that the Grammy’s got it right. Her name is up there with Jeff Buckley and Kevin Gilbert, IMO. Her voice, her playing (she plays guitar, bass, piano, and drums) are simply wonderful.

Currently listening to Madison Cunningham. She’s been out for about a decade now, and won some Grammy awards. Still her YouTube channel still has only 53k subscribers. It should at least have a billion. To those my age who love to complain that there’s no good music anymore, just listen.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
What style(s) of music do you play and do you primarily use physical instruments or primarily use virtual instruments via MIDI?1 Comment99.999999999% of the time I play real basses. I only have 2 guitars (down from 4, and maybe down 1 more soon), I have real drums but I’m not a drummer and the only drummer I’m willing to have in my home to record now lives too far away to do that anymore, so I’ll probably be selling my Yamaha Oak Custom set…Read More
