Anyone know if this is RFK?
It usually is if the blurb page doesn’t mention Kontakt Player.

If you’re a fan of their work, the version 2’s are usually worthy upgrades, especially at $10.

One of my favorite subjects is the history of musical equipment brands and companies.
My stepdad was a management consultant who specialized at brand/company rescue back in the 70’s. He worked at Booz, Allen, and Hamilton and at Stanford Research International among other places. He instilled in me a fascination for how brands and companies can…Read More

The bulk of the video is about his switch to Mac, but toward the end he explains why he’s in doubt about the future of Sonar. “A marketing disaster.”

XLN blew me away with that free update, I hadn’t gotten around to spending quality time with Addictive Drum Stew.
Really cool way to stimulate interest in a venerable instrument. New look, new features, and free?
It got me to dive in with the plug-in, which is, of course, awesome. I suspect that people who hadn’t touched it in a while will fall…Read More

I really like WizTree. My favorite utility for getting a graphical representation of what’s taking up disk space. It really is as fast as they say it is.
Great for sniffing out huge leftover installers that don’t need to be taking up drive space.
Another goodie is Duplicate File Finder.

@Zargg (and anyone else reading this), hah, just reading back over this topic I realized that forgot to put “anxiety” on my list of diagnoses. ADHD or age or one of my many meds making me even more scattered and forgetful?
Yeah, anxiety was a tough diagnosis to flush out. I had been seeing mental health professionals for 25 years before I was…Read More
superabbit replied to the topic FabFilter Total Bundle $120.40 at Groupon? Is this legit? in the forum Virtual & Physical Music Gear Deals
All of the FabFilter total scam listings I saw had https links back to the authentic retailer’s website.
I’m trying to think of a way they could at least suppress abuse of that without it breaking something else….
I’ve not ever created nor used a Groupon deal, so really no idea. It must be pretty wide open if these scam deals can stay up.

Getting comfy with my new MPS 6.5.
Looking at the list of new goodies, I see there are half a dozen NI-branded FX plug-ins included.
Are they useful ones? I like delays, but I like them to the point where I Already Have Too Many, and a basic bread-and-butter modulation plug-in would have a hard time making into the rotation. Same with dynamics…Read More

I wonder if iZotope is still paying as little attention to their customers’ upgrade eligibility as they used to…JRRShop sent me an email link to a 3rd-party site, where I entered the code they gave me, which then gave me the bundle serial to enter at iZotope.

Yes, it looks like you get new licenses for everything.Sadly, it appears that this is not true for Stratus/Symphony. I bought the upgrade for $88 at JRRShop with the GROUP discount and no new licenses for Stratus/Symphony show up in my iZotope account.
Oh well. I’m still not unhappy with the purchase.…Read More

What interests me is the amount of time between selecting an instrument and being able to play the first note.
Past a certain point, disk read speed stops being a bottleneck.
As someone with 48G RAM in my DAW computer, I’d be quite happy for my sample players to use RAM for caching/pre-loading.

The ratio of hassle-to-obtain to utility remains to be seen, but it will take a LOT of utility to make up for the hassle.
I put in for a single license and my iLok account says I have two, so there’s at least that.
It took days of website hangs, empty downloads, then finally installing their installer shell, and then iLokage.

This seems so strange to me, both of the “deals” have legitimate links to the respective retailers’ websites.

I sent email to e2genesis asking about whether the deal was legit and if so, what version(s) of the software you get, so we’ll see.
The idea of “old stock” licenses seems odd to me. Do software retailers actually buy blocks of licenses and maintain a “stock” of them?
