    ???

    Installed?!?

Technically,  that’s an affiliate marketing site,  so linking to it violates our policy, but I’ll let it stick around as I realize that it has a measure of usefulness.

Just be aware that the tool is not really doing what it claims. It only shows the lowest price entered in its system for the websites that give it a kickback if you click their link. Any sites that don’t give them a kickback are excluded from being part of the data set. Google has a similar tool, but it doesn’t work great with this niche yet.

I’ll be creating one for LinkedMusicians that will use AI, and I’ll try to feed it everything. But MSD’s entire model is an affiliate marketing scheme, not giving you accurate research tools. My mission is to give people better tools and remove bias.

I’d suggest using MSD as a guide,  but skip clicking their link (they’ll drop cookies on your desktop or device to ensure your purchases are tracked to them and they get a kickback on what you buy).

Hey @Peter, this is not entirely correct. I spoke with the guy a few times when he was setting up the MSD site. He was taking suggestions from the CW forum users for usability and which stores they wanted to see on the site. It’s true, he DOES have some affiliate links and he says so on his site. (Attached? I’m not certain it worked. It’s at the bottom of the MSD home page.)

But, he by no means limits his stores to those that offer him affiliate links. He scrapes the various websites for the prices and sales, etc.  (He had problems with JRR with the way they display their prices which is why they are not on there.)

I see it as a “service” for us plugin addicts and he helps pay for it with affiliate links if they are offered.

Personally, I think it’s a brilliant idea and it has been very useful to me. I wish I had thought of it.  🙂

    Wait?

How in the world do you think doing an affiliate marketing price comparison site is “innovative”? It’s literally one of the most overcrowded areas of affiliate marketing that exists.

MSD uses off the shell WordPress plugins made specifically for affiliate marketing price comparison sites (the developer is Crocoblock — it’s there in the site’s code). I’ve had conversations with the MSD guy, he was pretty negative about adding sites that didn’t give him a kickback and rejected every suggestion I made. He’s known among developers — for doing massive spamming with another business. I know of developers I respect who refuse to work with him. He used a sleazy influencer to shill for him to promote this site, violating various forum policies (the influencer did the posts to get around the policies, making it look like he was an unconnected third party; but they did this at multiple forums).

90+% of his listings are affiliate marketing links. He added some non-affiliate links early on when he and his influencer shill were doing their promotional campaign.  If you recalled back on the Cakewalk Forum, another affiliate marketing price comparison site owner was snipping at the MSD guy claiming the MSD site was a pure rip off of his site — which it is — but then the guy who was in the space first added that his site was really innovative, and even the MSD guy mocked him on that, stating basically that these sites area dime a dozen. It’s basically the most popular get rich quick scheme around in the solopreneur world and has been since the early 00s. These solopreneurs rarely care about abiding by laws and regulations, forum policies, and this guy is no exception. So yes, I’m not a fan of the guy’s ethics, or lack thereof.

Today, the solopreneurs doing the affiliate price comparison sites like MSD are often using AI to create content on the sites, so MSD isn’t one of the more advanced price comparison affiliate marketing sites. But I think the execution is good for what it is and the layout of the price history tool is decent. FTR, he’s making up to 22% commissions from those links — which he refers to as a “very small percentage” of a sale. I wasn’t a math major, but I kinda think 22% of a sale is NOT a very small percentage. He also avoids doing disclosures in compliance with laws, but I realize that not many people care. I think the AudioPlugin Deals guy — who is in the same space — doesn’t execute as nicely as the MSD guy, but I think the APD guy is a pretty decent person and fairly straight up — doing all of the necessary disclosures and I’ve never known of him running schemes with shady individuals or doing email SPAM. I’ve clicked his affiliate marketing links because I respect the way he operates his business. I cannot say the same about the MSD guy.
