I too took the $499 deal, but I don’t feel cheated at all. They have come through with everything they promised at the time, and they are not out of business yet, but if they fail, I understood when I bought in that that was a risk. It seems that the standard plug-in pricing model is to open high and cut over time, so I expect that. Some folks like U-He and Xfer Records have been able to set and hold a fixed price, so good for them.
Same, really was a gamble but value is in the eye of the beholder here right—do i wish there was more for the money spent? Sure no doubt. But honestly I’m still banking on whatever is next even though it’s taking forever. Spitfire bbc or ew Hollywood Orchestra don’t necessarily offer the same thing in terms of future update potential, especially at the file size. And for someone like me who wasn’t necessarily a “tweaker” before buying Musio: its simplicity was perfect for what i needed at the time. I am still learning how to more finely adjust things like ADSR settings, room size, mic levels, etc; things you might find in a typical kontakt library, but those things are not so important to me that i would be willing to sacrifice more disk space, latency, time and money just to have more control. As long as the source recording sounds good to me I’ll figure out how to fit it in to my production, after i bounce it out. After all my own priority is to compose music that sounds good, if i use the wrong reverb or mic placement i could care less, as long as it sounds good. I can definitely see how anyone can feel pretty dumb getting the intro deal at this point. I try not to see it that way since i can’t go back; it may sound like Im convincing myself but I think Musio is great, it’s not Native Access based, not ilok, not cumbersome to use, and there is good variety with hopefully more on the horizon.
