I just picked up Studio One Pro 7, but I thought a little about LUNA. I suppose because I know some inside information on the development of the project and how Universal Audio scaled back plans for it, I was hesitant to go with it. But obviously, UA is a great developer. Is anyone here using LUNA? If so, I’d love to get your thoughts.
Your friend who keeps the beat. I suppose I’m also the chef at this place.
I’ve used it a little, but would treat it more like Harrison (/SSL) Mixbus. Great for mixing and some of their native effects, or inbuilt options add some nice vibe. Good for recording.
I personally woudn’t produce music in either, so mostly ignore them for MIDI and VSTi.
This offer is a lttle different where the DAW is free and this is really the plugins and extenstions that expand it.
I think a lot of us would have most of these from Signature apart from some of the bolded ones:
•Ampex ATR-102 Master Tape Machine & LUNA Extension
•API 2500 Bus Compressor & LUNA Extension
•API Preamp
•API Summing LUNA Extension
•API Vision Channel Strip & LUNA Extension
•Century Tube Channel Strip
•Galaxy Tape Echo
•Oxide Tape Recorder
•Polymax
•Pultec Passive EQ Collection
•Pure Plate Reverb
•Studer A800 Tape Recorder & LUNA Extension
•Teletronix LA-2A Leveler Collection
I had planned on buying the Ampex ATR-102 Master Tape at some point and this includes the plugin to use in Cubase, as well as extension for Luna. Luna is a bit weird that even if you own the plugins, they expect you to buy the Luna bundle to get the extensions. That’s a bit crappy on their part, although Softube does that with some of their console ones too.
So if someone is interested in the Ampex ATR-102 Master Tape or any of the others, then it’s not a lot more to spend to get a LOT more options when using Luna as it opens up all the extensions and gives you a lot more choice.
Luna would be fine for mastering projects as well.
