We’re considering spending $800 on a Mac Mini and Logic.
Rather than getting a new PC rig I’ve opted to go that route.
I tried using Logic for the first time the other night and aside from the to be expected new DAW awkwardness I was able to throw together a project (just a couple of electric guitar tracks using the Native Helix plug-in) with virtually no hassle.
I’m waiting till after I pick up a 8 TB SSD chip for my Mac docking station before I seriously start migrating my Audio libraries, etc. i.e. not enough disk storage space.
I originally planned on totally transitioning to the Mac but that’s still a work in progress.
While most of switching most of my stuff to the Mac versions was fairly painless switching to the Mac version of Outlook 365 was a real PITA due to my reliance on POP3 and PST files. The Mac versions of Outlook doesn’t support all the same features (e.g. Categories which I use extensively) for Pop3 email. Importing PST files is a slow awkward song and a dance and does not always work work.
I ‘could’ live with it as is now but I need to spend a day or 3 researching & trying crap before I’ll accept that.
If I ran a small business that relied on Office 365 but wasn’t big enough or had the budget to use Exchange this could be enough of a reason to stay PC.
But over all, so far I’m happy.
Best wishes on a smooth transition if you decide to hit go.
