🆓 NEW FREE Decent Sampler Synth Library from Venus Theory

After a bit of a pause on the AURAS project (for reasons we’ll get into) I’m back with my latest venture: Tephra.

Tephra, in case you’re not up to date on your geological terms, is fragmented material produced by a volcanic eruption. Now, what the hell does that have to do with anything you might ask? Allow me to explain!

Several years back, I heard some news about a synthesizer made with lava rock that took inspiration for its sound from Icelandic volcanoes. Needless to say, I was sold. After a few years of waiting I finally got my hands on the Genki Katla: a wildly expensive, exotic Icelandic synth that sounds exactly like it looks…and damn does it look cool.

Naturally, given the price point and it being part of a very limited run, I knew that this is not something that many people will get a hold of and because of that it seemed like a PERFECT candidate for the AURAS project.

So, now it’s yours for free.

This instrument was a tremendous challenge to sample given that the whole thing that makes it special is how wildly unpredictable it is.
