UAD has dropped some great freebies on us lately.  Now, if they’d just add the EMT 140 reverb that that list!

Big caveat: you end up with UA Connect after it’s installed, a program/service that runs on system startup.

I uninstalled UA Connect and the plug-in still works, but during a full plug-in rescan, it kicked off a reinstall of UA Connect, which proceeded without approval from me. I’ve read of someone else this happened to as well.

So if you have an aversion to plug-ins that behave like malware, consider it carefully, and if you install it, keep an eye on it.

As if I didn’t already have enough to do with disabling Native Instruments’ NTKDaemon and NIHostingAgent every time I update Kontakt Player….

I’m in the process of cutting down plugins that I install and use. UAD is never going to get installed on my hard drive if they don’t offer machine license activation, offline plugin reuse, and a plugin manager that isn’t a malware so obtrusive to run at startup and constantly install software without my permission.

I’m actually regretting this, cause I’ve got into UAD in the first place for Distressor. But once you get to know how compression and saturation works, you can replace it with another chain.
