The LinkedMusicians Scale, Mode & Chord Finder is a custom tool I created that significantly expands on the previous chord finder tool. I wanted a tool that allows people to select a note and find all of the various scale, mode, and triad options without any fuss.
I thought this tool would be very helpful to people sitting in front of their computer with their keyboard, guitar, bass, or other instrument, looking to create songs/compositions. I think it’s useful to both those with no musical training as well as those with musical training. I took several years of piano and organ lessons (in addition to drum lessons), and have some music theory training, and will certainly find this tool useful when I’m on my keyboard working on songs, transposing keys, or preparing to perform a solo. I added a piano below the Finder app, so if you were not near a musical instrument and were simply curious what a scale, mode, or series of notes in a scale or mode sound like, you could easily hear it.
I’d love to get your thoughts/feedback. Is this something you could see yourself using? Does it do everything you need? If not, what do you think it’s missing?
I may update this tool in the future to include extended chords or add something to the page to explain how to create extended chords.

We (okay, I mean me!) added an Interactive Circle of Fifths. For those unfamiliar with the Circle of Fifths, its an important music theory learning tool. Like the Scale, Mode, and Chord Finder, these are custom tools for LinkedMusicians that I created for the site that are especially useful when songwriting and composing, but are also useful for all musicians. I labeled them Songwriting Tools because that’s when you’re most likely to be using tools to help you understand chords, scales, modes, harmony and the elements of music theory. Of course, all of that also applies to when you’re doing your own arrangement of a song/composition or soloing.
As always, your feedback is welcomed and appreciated.
