NOTE: I’m not a fan of posting influencer videos — they are literally compensated contractors doing promotions for brands. Consequently, I’ll label this video. Influencers in this industry work by all different ways. The smallest influencers (micro influencers and even below micro influencers) commonly work by getting free product (NFRs) to make videos and getting brands to sponsor their channel or make contributions; they often will pitch the brands to do paid videos down the road or talk about contributions or sponsorships if not ask for cash for doing a video. Influencers with larger reach, like this one, can command far more than $15,000 to do a “review video” where they assure you that they are completely uninfluenced by the brands they “review.” In developing nations, influencers often work for a lot less. So just keep that in mind, you’re watching a compensated promoter — in this case, he’s working for Guitar Center. Of course, that means, he’s going to be hyping Guitar Center and products sold there — otherwise Guitar Center will not continue paying him.

Nothing interesting for me, except the personally long-awaited Korg Phase8, but the price doesn’t seem to match the results I’ve heard in the demos so far. I can proudly say that a good friend of mine was involved in making Leviasynth, but fortunately it’s not my cup of tea, so no GAS at all. Will wait for the Buchla & Friends event, which takes place right after the official NAMM show and is more focused on modulars and other quirky stuff.
