Update with Native Access
CHECK this post from NI if you running earlier version than Kontakt 8.x
Happy Birthday Session Guitarist
Session Guitarist is 10! To celebrate we’re offering up to 50% off your picks from this genre and era-spanning collection.Plus, we’ve updated all older versions so now the whole series has MIDI drag-and-drop for easy export, updated riff and phrase modes, and next-gen NKS support.
Read on cakewalk that one of the older guitar libraries, strummed acoustic, is giving the following release note when updating:
“Minimum Kontakt version requirements Kontakt 8.4.0, if you don’t own this version of Kontakt you wont be able to use the product.”
Careful
Someone got that wrong. The entire Session Guitar line uses the free Kontakt Player, so it would just mean you have to install the latest version of Kontakt Player — which, again, is completely free. Also, you’re welcome, Native Instruments (I saved one of their employees from registering to have that reply). That said, NI, feel free to register and answer future questions or info that needs correction. I use Kontakt in nearly every single project and have used it since the first or second version, so I know it pretty well.

Check out my music.
While it is true that you can use the product by installing the free version of Kontakt 8, I can understand the feeling of someone using an older full version of Kontakt not wanting to potentially gum up their system with more bloat. I used to be one such person, but own 8 now. I am guessing that “Next gen NKS support” is referring to their recently expanded NKS support of some third party hardware.
