Feel free to disagree — I do like Loom II. But, IMO, Air has so badly damaged their brand image and is unworthy of the public trust from incredibly problematic software that has caused some of us — me included — to have to reinstall Windows to get our computers working again to their company’s terrible track record with BFD3 that they have to give stuff away for people to give them another shot.
Based on my experience, I tend to avoid InMusic software. Their history of putting out very problematic software and lack of responsiveness to fixing issues is too excessive to overlook. A couple of years ago when an updated version of one of their soft synths required me to do a reinstall of Windows and I went to the brand’s forum on KVR and found they’d known about the issue for several months and still hadn’t gotten around to fixing it, I was blown away. And then it took several months after that before they fixed the known issue. I’ll wait to install this software until I see reports from others on Windows that it’s working without issues. There are too many excellent choices to deal with a company like InMusic, IMO. Maybe they’ll get it together at some point — their parent company certainly has enough money to do better. But their Air and BFD 3 histories — and getting to the point of the product not being incredibly buggy, which is enough for some users to celebrate a product that’s really not competitive in its category — IMO, doesn’t cut it. Numerous small developers do a far superior job of putting out reliable plugins with solid support to excuse the nightmare that we’ve seen from InMusic.
That is my honest review of InMusic and their software. Of course, they could change. But they’re history is pretty bad. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. InMusic has some serious work to do if they want to rehabilitate their brands (plural) reputations after years of putting out extremely buggy products and poor support.

I do but reading around so many forums I think I’m in the very slim minority. My experiences with AiR is they are some of the most stable, efficient plugins I have. Drum Synth 500 sounds so good (imo it blows Sugarbytes one out of the water), uses hardly any CPU at all, and if I need a quick beat to get things going Boom is my go to machine. Vacuum, Hybrid, and xPand sound really good too, however I hardly reach for them anymore.
Only plugin I tried that messed things up badly on my systems was that deskew gig performer. Took hours to fix the issues that thing created.
Wow Peter. Sorry to hear that. Seems that you had quite an experience in the past.
I’ve never had this experience with Air, that’s why I was quite impressed with these plugins.
I’m happy with what software packages Akai is offering with hardware, and for the type of music that I’m producing, their craft seems perfect for me and my workflow. I was happy that they’ve released the VST3 version for the old plugs, and thought I can invest into these plugs because of good support.
But of course, not when they are fully priced.
Also bought some licenses on KVR and they were responsive and transferred the licenses in max 2 days.
On my end was only sunshine, but in your case, I agree with you.
Now if only they will completely remove the ilok system for the old plugins and add the license activations via inMusic Software Center… that would be great.
Hope the things will stay this way. 🙂

The code to get it is generic and it works just now!
