Apparently BorisFX has acquired the ownership of some MAGIX products (Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio).
Found this in my spam email:
We’ve got some great news to share: Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio are now part of Boris FX.
We’re very excited by this and want you to know that the software you trust is in safe hands. The entire team, including developers, engineers, product leadership, and support staff, has made the move. We’ve formed a new subsidiary in Germany to support this transition; longtime team members Thomas Wolf and Sven Kardelke will lead as co-CEOs of Boris FX Germany GmbH.
What does this mean for you?
Simply put: Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio are here to stay, and they’re about to get even better. With the backing of Boris FX, development will speed up, bringing you more frequent updates, cutting-edge new features (including AI-powered tools), and continued innovation. Support remains seamless, now with an even larger global team behind you. Most importantly, the products will continue to deliver the precision, reliability, and quality you’ve always counted on.
We’ll be sharing more details later this summer. In the meantime, we’ve answered a few common questions below. For now, just know that your trust in Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio remains well-placed.
Thanks for being part of the journey. We’re excited for what’s next.
All the best,
Boris Yamnitsky
Founder & CEO, Boris FX
@kirean The company has been out of bankruptcy for a while now. Do you think this is good news for those who use the software lines that were sold to Borix FX?? I’ve heard of Bori FX, but don’t really know anything about the company or their financial condition.
LinkedMusicians Founder. Your friend who keeps the beat.
Check out my music.
BorisFX has been around for a long time, but I haven’t really paid attention to them in a decade and a half. Most likely they’re doing fine. Adding audio tools to their line-up makes quite a lot of sense. They’ve been on a buying spree in recent years, so I guess they’re trying to solidify their position even more.
But. They’ll eventually want to earn from the deal, so who knows what it means in the long run for the current product owners. Hopefully they’ll continue to respect the perpetual licences. And it seems like despite offering subs, they also do offer perpetual licences for at least some of their programs.
Didn’t seem like they were rocking the boat of current users too much just yet.
