Forums › ANNOUNCEMENTS, FAQs, IDEAS, ISSUES, & FEEDBACK › LM Announcements / Site Discussion › Deals “Services” Subforum Now Part of the DAWs, Virtual Instrument…Subforum
The beta test period for the site ends this week, and LinkedMusicians will soon open for public registration. All of the key functionality of the site is in place and stable. There are some minor design tweaks on mobile still in progress, but no major site issues.
In an effort to streamline / simplify the forums, today the Deals “Services” subforum was merged into the “DAWs, Virtual Instruments, VSTs, Effects Plugins & Sample Libraries” subforum. Consequently, if you wanted to post or find deals for mastering, SaaS, training, or other types of music-related services, you can now post and find them in the “DAWs, Virtual Instruments, VSTs…” Thread.
As the system emails, encompassing registration and password resets, alerts for threads/topics you’re following, and other site content, will be operational this week, that will mean less subscriptions to follow. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

The site SHOULD have open registration later this week.
It would have happened tomorrow, but I’m dealing with issues from the domain registrar, formerly Google Domains, now SquareSpace, that hasn’t responded to a customer support ticket in two days and counting. Grrr… This is my testimonial against using SquareSpace. I stayed with them after Google Domains sold to them, but they don’t offer phone or chat support to Google Domain customers. The DNS settings were properly setup for email, but there’s some issue on their end — I even had a Linux tech double check things to confirm the mistake was on their end. Who knows how long they will take to respond. But two days with no response for a serious problem when they promote 24/7 support — I call B.S. on that 24/7 support claim.
Rant over! We are a little delayed, but assuming we get this straightened out today or tomorrow and I have a couple of days to test, we’ll open for registration this week.

Sorry for the negative, but the way the Deals forum has been split up sucks big time. If it was me, I would put it back like it was.
Things changing all the time sucks. I understand you are trying to find the sweet spot, but in my opinion the sweet spot was found as far as the Deals forum goes before it was split up, and most likely not just the Deals forum at the same time.
I’m suffering from the side effects of pain relief medication including Morphine patches. I can’t type much, it’s hard, involuntary movements in my hands and fingers, can’t read big blocks of text, I just give up and hope for a swift death, anyway, I’m F**ked.
I have hit the Cakewalk forums again a couple of days ago again the only way I could, with an advertisement type thing as my Signature, as my posts had to be approved, AGAIN, I’d say by now I would have my 3rd banning, and my signature removed from my posts, I can’t check as I had to use ‘tor’ browser to even sign up again and was put on the pre-approval thing before I even had posted, they probably don’t like people using ‘tor’, I certainly don’t like using it, it was a b**ch of a thing.
So third round of pre-approval being required, 2nd banning and most likely 3rd, that’s it for me at the Cakewalk Forum, my job is done 😉
I got to stop typing, it’s to frustrating and time consuming

First off, I am really sorry for what you’re going through health-wise. I hope you recover quickly. I also want to say thanks for all you’ve done for this community. I’ve seen how you’ve posted at other forums to tell people about this community and I am very grateful.
It’s beyond wrong that you’ve been banned from Cakewalk Forum just for mentioning this community, meanwhile I found that only yesterday and someone at the Cakewalk forum was disparaging cclarry — I don’t even want to repeat the despicable thing they wrote. It should have been removed from the community. Then an affiliate marketer violated the Cakewalk Forum rules by posting a link to his affiliate marketing page. Neither person’s post was edited or removed, though they both clearly violated BandLab’s policies. I assume that no one was penalized for posts and they remain intact, but apparently, someone mentioned LinkedMusicians and the moderator edited the post and closed the thread. Meanwhile, Jonathan Sasor is still on his vengeance tour because I posted that he should apologize to Cakewalk customers for berating them. It’s hard to believe a mid-size software company can operate that way, but it does. This is what happens when a billionaire trust fund kid runs a business. It’s absurd, but it’s not the worst thing I’ve seen in the business world, that’s certain. It’s just stupid, reflective of a poorly managed employee who should never be customer-facing or creating forum or social media policies at any brand.
Now help me get a better handle on the change(s) that you don’t like. We started off with the Deals Forum having 4 subforums, and I decided to trim it down to 3. That’s the only change I’ve ever made to the Deals forum since this site was created. The reason I did that was because the Services subforum wasn’t being visited much and it was two weeks since anyone made a post in it — it was a ghost town. Taxonomy-wise, it made sense. But on a practical level, people weren’t visiting it, and except for cclarry, I don’t think people were posting in it. By next week, people will be able to set up email alerts by Forum / sub-forum and I thought there was little point in maintaining a separate sub-forum just for services based on the lack of use. I’ve merged a number of previous sub-forums on the site to simplify things and reduce the number of empty sub-forums.
But I can put it up for a vote, if you like, and if we the vast majority of members want it back, I’ll bring it back. I’m merely trying to find the formula that works best for the community, that’s all there is to it.
Does that address your concern or is there something else?
