NOTE: I just tried out the free version of Deviant Drums minutes ago and it sounds great. The free drum kit is clearly geared toward metal and hard rock. I’d consider it one of the best free acoustic drum kits I know of. It uses the free Kontakt Player and it’s going on the LM list of best free Kontakt instruments.

That’s at the bottom of my original post (above). I tried it out yesterday and thought it might be the best free hard rock / metal acoustic drum kit libraries on the market. I gave it a recommendation. I even reached out to the developer yesterday — he’s a successful composer who is venturing into sample libraries—and told him that I recommended his free library.
