Registrations have picked recently (which also means spam registrations and site attacks have significantly increased). Consequently, I’m trying to tighten up / refine the site to make it more interesting and engaging for everyone, basically to get us talking/posting more, as that’s a key factor in getting people on board. plus, it’s the best part of this community — when we’re all talking. Here are some of the latest things I’ve done to make our site more relevant for everyone, and more invinting for new visitors.
(1) Yesterday I hid all of the Discussion Groups except for the open / general discussion group. I did that because none of the groups are seeing much activity — you can fairly say that we were spreading outselves too thin. Now, instead of having 4 groups with little activity, we can put everything into one group. Over time, as our community grows, I’ll very likely bring back the other groups. So, here’s the kind of content you’ll see on The Wall: Fun questions to get us talking, like “What do you think is the most under-rated band considered a one-hit wonder?” or “Who do you think is the most underrated rock guitarist?” I’m going to commit to doing at least one of these per week starting this weekend.
(2) I realize that a lot of folks are only interested in the deals forum. If you’re in that group, I’ve been using superstickies to reach you. Have you noticed?
I’d love your thoughts on these changes, and feel free to share any other input you want to share about how we can make the site more relevant to you. While I don’t have a budget for custom development or any major changes to the website design, better understanding your experiences and opinions can lead to creative ways to adapt the site to be more useful to you and our community. A good site always evolves over time, based on how people use it. There’s always a ton to learn and improve. So please, let’s hear you!
