My 2 Minute Cover of Radiohead’s There There

While I love an incredibly long list of artists and bands from way back to the current day — yes, I still listen to new music and there’s some great music being made today. To me, the most fantastically creative GREAT rock bands of all time are The Beatles and Radiohead.  Radiohead is great at melody, creative rhythms, and is an innovator in the studio. Their music moves me deeply and this is one of my favorite Radiohead songs. But what really inspired me to finally do this song — because I’ve long considered it — was listening to the cover by our member @ayatchi. Her beautiful, haunting vocals stayed with me (I’d greatly prefer to redo this with her vocals instead of mine). Now, I’m no longer much of a musician and never had much of a voice, so I can’t do what she does. But I think I still have a good creative mind for arranging music. I’ve been keeping my covers to around 2 minutes or less, so this omits the bridge. As always, this is my arrangement of the song and quite different from the original. Although a tom tom pattern is a very important part of this cover, just like the original, it’s different from the drum pattern on the original song.

This is the cover by @ayatchi that inspired me to do a cover of my own. Of course, I wouldn’t compare what I did to her cover.  Beyond her fantastic lead vocal, the harmonies are just heavenly. If she’s ever game to collaborate, I’d love to work with a vocal track like that and just handle playing the music.

I’m in !! l love what you did on your version.

Radiohead are definitely one of my favorite bands. I like the members solo works but it just doesnt have the magic they weave together as a unit.
