The Big Easy

From Sunday the 27th until Tuesday Nov 5th I will be going on a cruise
from New Orleans to Cozumel, Roatan, Belize, and Costa Maya.  The cruise
returns on Sunday Nov. 3rd, and I’ll be staying in New Orleans all of Sunday
and Monday before returning on Tuesday morning in time to vote!  This is
my first time to the Big Easy so should be interesting!

Satya takes the Captain’s chair in my absence!

I move to N.O. for a year right after college, before starting graduate school.  Then I lived about 45 minutes away for six years after Katrina.  It’s a fun place and there is nothing like it anywhere in the US.  And the food is amazing!!  You’ll have a blast!!

BTW, I love how Larrry and Satya team up. This site is all about community — us and the way you two collaborate epitomizes that.

I do want to give a shout out to @satya. I really appreciate you and the contributions you make to this community. I’ll never forget how you first appeared on the scene (as part of this community), Larry was on vacation and suddenly there you were posting away, just like old times, but even better because this place is our place, and not ruled by some billionaire trust fund kid that treats us like we’re worthless because we’re not the right demographic for his business.

Enjoy! N.O. is a great place to listen, eat, and listen some more.  Preservation Hall was my fave, but I see they are closed for renovations.  Just stroll the French Quarter and you can sample a lot of sounds from the sidewalk.  We attended an event where Chef Paul Prudhomme taught the crowd how to make bananas foster.  I’ve made it many times since, but only once did I light the skillet afire (rum of course) like the chef did.  It makes a great show, but why tempt fate?

While I’m very glad that Larry’s enjoying myself  — and a bunch of people have stepped up and been sharing deals — even me; it’s the only time I can post without finding out Larry already posted the deal an hour prior — things just aren’t the same here. I don’t think I’m alone in missing him. Well, I think tomorrow is the day he gets back. Maybe we’ll see him around. @cclarry I say just start up a thread in the Coffee House and share the details and photos from your trip!
