It appears that there was a Denial of Service attack on the site today and we had some downtime. For those unfamiliar, a DOS attack is basically a malicious party attempting to overload a server to bring it down. The site wasn’t hacked, the server was just overloaded. A technician is investigating what happened. But everything else is pretty smooth sailing.
If anyone notices a couple of odd missing images on the home page, I was testing on the live site instead of the staging site and some of the content — which doesn’t have images — ended up showing up on the live site. I’ll try to fix that this weekend.
What I’m doing is setting up feeds from magazines like Sound and Sound, Computer Music, and American Songwriter, blogs like Bedroom Producers, YouTube channels like Rick Beato’s two channels, so that we can all stay up on what’s going on in the world of songwriting, playing, and producing music. If there are any magazines, podcasts, blogs, or YouTube channels that you think would be useful for the community, please share your suggestions below. I won’t be able to include everything, I’m going to focus on the highest quality sources that add strong value to this community. This should be available in early December 2024.

I guess this can be considered a rite of passage? 😏
Unfortunately. But we’re back up now and everything is running very smoothly. I’d be interested in feedback on the speed of the site for folks — on desktop and mobile. I really haven’t heard any comments, even from the beginning on the site’s performance, so I’d really be interested in how it’s performing for everyone. I have contemplated a CDN for the site, but the costs have already been pilling up, so until I put up a button for contributions, I’m going to hold off on that, especially when I’ve never received any negative feedback on the site’s performance.
