UPDATE: I intended to have the site open to public registration this week. Instead, I spent the week working on working on some site issues and improvements when some things came up in my personal life that will be pulling me away the rest of this week, so I am making the decision to move public registration to later this month, as I need to be around after I open the gates.
In preparation for that, I have chosen an email SMTP vendor (I already have another email service provider in place with a contract), Amazon, and will be setting them up next week. This will mean that all users of this site can start getting email notifications of threads that you’re following, messages you receive at LinkedMusicians, when someone tags you and anything else you set up. I chose Amazon for a number of reasons. First of all, they’re top notch when it comes to deliverability. That means there is a greater probability of emails sent using their service reaching your inbox and not your spam folder. Second of all, they’re very scalable and that’s very important for this site. Right now more than 90% of our visitors are non-members. Once we open the site to public registration, we will see spammers, hackers, and other bad actors attempt to become part of the community. It’s simply the reality of opening a site for free registration. Consequently, this site will require significantly more attention to moderation and support. Right now, I only have one moderator, @brian, besides me. We’re absolutely going to need more help in that area. So if you’re amiable, and have a track record of being helpful, and even-handed and are willing to volunteer your time to be a moderator to help this community, we can really use your help – shoot me a message or email. We can also use help from someone who can provide support to users, answering technical questions.
I will be tied up a bit today and will have very limited availability this weekend from Friday to Sunday.

Hi Peter – I’d be happy to help moderate though I’m hoping a few others will join me. I’m currently a mod on the Creative Sauce Facebook group so have a bit of experience
Thanks. I’ll reach out to you either by the end of this week or next week.
