What Are Your Music Related New Year’s Resolutions?

You can call them music-related New Year’s resolutions, you can call them plans, or whatever you like. Tell us about what you have planned or hope for during the year ahead.

I’ll start us off.

1. Make LinkedMusicians more engaging for everyone with more of the content you enjoy.
2. Deliver the much-requested email daily digests rolled out and available to all of our members who want it during Q1 2026. All of the real work for this (coding, testing, etc.) has been done by @lamia6, so I won’t pretend to take credit for it. She’s the talent and brains behind it.  If anyone needs WordPress development or any web development work, I highly recommend contacting her. She’s extremely talented. An amazing human being. Considerate, helpful, generous, kind and super talented at web development.
3. Finish the current musical collaboration I have and work on additional ones.
4. Promote collaboration at LinkedMusicians.
5. Encourage our members to share what they’re working on — even if it’s just a few bars. I was a working musician for two decades, but I was a drummer. Sharing what really are, my demos and one-man jam tracks with the world was embarrassing at first. But I got over it, and now I enjoy sharing and want to encourage others to go on that journey too.
6. Attempt to practice for the first time in two decades since my injury. My tendinitis limits what I can play, but within those constraints, I can still work on being a better player.  I’m going to commit myself to attempting to practice even with my limitations. Even if it only means I can play a little better than I do now, it’s still worth it.

I don’t really “do” New Year resolutions, but I have a “goal”.  Two of my grandkids received “Yoto” MP3 players. It’s a kid friendly device that uses RFID embedded cards to pull playlists down from the web.  I gave them a pack of user customizable cards on Christmas, of which one is labeled “Grandpa”.  Each card “holds” up to 100 tracks or 5 hours.  I have made 20 tracks so far (eleven songs and 9 poems); covers- not original; and hope to get all 100 done before they enter college (ages 6 and 3).  20% done before New Years, so I think I will get there 😛  I will stick a couple of the songs on the sharing page here on LM shortly.
