What country do you live in?
Canada but from UK
2. What musical instrument(s) do you play and when did you start playing?
None. Zero. Zilch. But I have big ears and a killer music collection.
3. Do you sing?
In the shower. Words by The Gatherers is a particular favourite.
4. What level of experience do you have with audio engineering?
Obsessive hobbyist.
5. What genres of music do you play?
I produce and mix my own techno/electro/hiphop. But my music collection covers pretty much all genres except rock and roll/metal.
6. What are some of the musical artists and music that inspire you?
I went to the same college as Richard D James (he’s a couple of years older) so quite influenced by 90s UK electronica, especially Reload/Global Communications and Autechre. There’s so many others. Woody Shaw, Yusef Lateef, The Necks, Chill Rob G, Public Enemy, De La Soul, Braintax, Demon Boyz, Underground Resistance, John Reischman, Messiaen, Fontella Bass, 4Hero, Celia Cruz, Andy Bey, Franco and TPOK Jazz. Don’t know where to stop lol…
7. Do you do music as a hobby, semi-professionally, or professionally? If you’re a hobbyist did you once do music professionally or semi-professionally?
Hobbyist. Never pro. When I was 21 I moved to London to become an audio engineer. I enrolled in a college course and two weeks into the course, the studio was robbed and the teacher told us through tears that even if they got insurance, it would take years to build the studio back up and start the course again. I went and studied tech instead. That was nearly 30 years ago.
BONUS QUESTION
Do you have any musical goals you hope to accomplish?
Yep, I have three different genre projects I would like to finally get out the door after many years of kicking the tires.
