A wall-related song. No, no, not that one! This one.
We really should embrace the whole Cakewalk Forum banning any references to LinkedMusicians while allowing people to post links to every KVR, Gearspace, VI Control — and a bunch of affiliate marketing links. I thought BandLab was out of Singapore. I guess they must have relocated to North Korea. It takes some truly awful decision-making to end up…Read More

I was talking with a friend and talked about LinkedMusicians. He asked for a clarification on what I meant by “it’s an online community of musicians.” I explained, it’s basically Facebook for musicians with forums focused on sharing deals, tutorials, documentaries, gear and music production. How would you describe it?

I spend wayyy too much time sitting here.
3 CommentsIt’s actually Kontakt so it probably would have passed, but who knows? I’ll be honest, I have no idea what Cakewalk/Bandlab apps even look like. I’ve only used Logic, Luna and one or two others ever since I started. I was a member on the other forum for the discussions, that’s it. I’m sure there were a lot of us like that too. I think the…Read More

I just want to give a shout out to the person who rejected my friend request.
Seriously. It takes some major kahones to turn down the site owner’s friend request and I actually made a joke about this exact situation to my son when I was building the site. I actually thought it would be a pretty rock and roll move!#FightThePower (Oh wait,…Read More

Okay, I see that @gregjazz just joined the group. I’d love to some photos of that collection of gear! Of course, that might give away what sample libraries you’re working on next. But that could be fun… You could take a photo of a part of an instrument you’re recording and leave us to speculate on what it might be. Me personally, my dream would…Read More

Welcome to Simeon AKA @praisetracks
Like many others, I enjoy watching Simeon’s YouTube videos, especially when he goes on little musical tangents — playing familiar classics. Because the man can really play! Then I purchase the same libraries and think to myself, “Wait… something’s different. Hold on, I know. It sounded awesome when Simeon…Read More1 Commentpeter posted

While I am maintaining two lists of free sample libraries that are linked to on the main site menu to the left of this post, I’m going to be creating threads of what I believe are the absolute best free sample libraries and VST instruments by instrument category. I call them “Peter’s Picks.” I’ve just posted the first one, focused on all types of…Read More

8 CommentsWait, you don’t like Queen? Unfriended!
I kid, I kid. But Queen was awesome.
I became a Rush fan in HS and stayed one since.
I don’t know what it is with Queen, but I don’t really enjoy listening to their music for fun and pleasure. Strange, but that’s me.
Back in the day, REO Speedwagon and, for the most part, Van Halen. These bands were really popular when I was in HS. Add Kiss to the list a little earlier. Just plain terrible, IMO. I still won’t forget the day my closest cousin — who was like a brother — told me at around age 13, that he decided that Kiss was a better band than Zeppelin.…Read More
1, Hole: for some reason everyone was crazy about Hole and I just couldn’t get into it.
Their 1st Disk: Pretty on the Inside: was just awful even thought it was produced by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth (a band I love)
And then the 2nd Disk: Live Though This: Came out and everyone went crazy for that, and I still didn’t like the band.
But when the 3rd…Read MoreI would side with you regarding Hole and Boston. While I always liked Boston, I think I took Brad Delp’s voice for granted and didn’t even realize how good his vocals were on those classic albums until many years later. 4 CommentsTotal egomaniac with obvious anger management issues. Having worked as a drummer as a hired gun a lot, I’m familiar with working for ill tempered egomaniacs and have witnessed prima donna singers explode and throw a punch on stage, although never at me. I’m shocked Alice Cooper didn’t come up with that🤪
Live is an awesome band Throwing Copper rocks.
Stone Temple Pilots are one of my favorite bands, Interstate Love Song rules, too bad about Weiland.
Soul Asylum was pretty cool, Somebody to Shove was an okay song.🤘I did look up the bands and none of them have the original members. Live is only the original lead singer of the band, who doesn’t get along with his former bandmates, so he sued, is using the band name, and has a bunch of different musicians. Soul Asylum is also only the lead singer. STP the original musicians with a different lead singer who…Read More

About Me

Ross
Musician, Singer, Producer
Lifelong musician (I'm old now, lol!), home recording enthusiast for 25+ years (primarily Cakewalk/Sonar user). I started as a piano player as a kid, got into singing in my teens, played in a number of bands in L.A and Vegas in the 1980's (I grew up in Vegas). Did some analog recording in those early days, and got into digital/home based recording in the late 90's. Basically a hobbyist at this point, just having fun recreating songs from the soundtrack of my life, experimenting with new (to me) musical forms and genres, and lately collaborating with other musicians online. Looking forward to interacting with other passionate players and producers on this forum!
