This is a really compelling price for Musio and I’ve heard so many positive things about it — aside from Mike Greene’s attacks on Cinesamples insinuating they’re on the verge of going under — that it’s going to be hard not to bite on this one just based on Piano in Blue and the Tina Guo libraries.
I’d love to hear from current owners of this. I know Cinesamples makes superb Kontakt libraries, that’s without question. Some of the best there are. But how are these libraries with the Musio player? Do the Piano in Blue library — which I’m completely in love with, BTW — sound and play great in the Musio version? Same with the Tina Guo library and others. The only reason I never bought the Guo library was it has so much reverb baked in, but it otherwise is beautiful.
I don’t think I’m going to delete this because we have a decent dialog going. It’s not like any of us have a realistic chance of beating cclarry to post a deal anyhow! Hahaha. Come on Larry, give the rest of us a pass and let this one stand. You still get credit for reporting the deal first. Your position as the forum MVP and 🐐 has never been in question. If we do a HOF, yours would be the first picture hanging in it. I’m going to merge the two threads in a bit.
Your friend who keeps the beat.

Hey Peter, i have had Musio since the very beginning and love it. Here’s are some pros and cons for me:
1. The file size; while I don’t know of the top of my head the number of gb, it’s much smaller compared to other kontakt libraries. I can keep it all on my local HD without it getting uncomfortable
2. While you do sacrifice some tweakability such as (currently) not being able to mix different room mics, the quality of each recorded instrument is good imo and you do at least get the ability to tweak FX like reverb and decay for most instruments. Of course you can also make any changes to the sound outside of the vst plugin which i prefer anyway. Room mics are apparently coming soon still (eyeroll)
3. You can make 16 output instrument instances, which for me as someone with a massive production template; it always opens in seconds.
4. I will say, some legato instruments perform a little funky to me, but as someone who has the kontakt version of cinestrings it’s honestly not a huge change for that library specifically, imo. I personally love the Guo Cello library in Musio and use it on everything. That one is probably the best legato wise in Musio, and post production no one even has to know what i went through to get it to sound more realistic anyway lol
5. The variety of instruments is the biggest bang for your Buck out there. I am using instruments that i never knew existed or would have ever thought of buying or downloading.
6. customer support has always been super helpful
7. As an early adopter, i am stuck with the hope that they will release lots of great stuff in the future. It sure is taking a looong time for these guys to put something new out.
While I’m not going saying musio is the last thing you’ll ever need, for someone like me who doesn’t do this for a living, who runs a tight budget, and has aspirations of making/producing music that has more elaborate orchestration (without having to invest in spitfire libs & additional HD’s) it’s just what i needed.
