That was someone else who is a music educator.
I took several years of bass lessons from a guitarist who taught practical the application of theory, modes, chord substitutions, etc., to help students do a better job playing jazz standards. He was great because he recognized that I was in a rock band and would throw out examples of how these concepts related to a wide gamut of rock music.
My interest in composition tools goes back to middle school when I sat for hours at a baby grand piano improvising. Because I figured out on my own that chords were related such as A minor being the same scale notes as C major I developed an interest in theory that has been helpful over the years.
My interest in Scaler and HookPad is for it to identify what I’m playing or to feed in a keyboard track and see what it detects. I also have used it to do the single note to play the chords and play around with voicings.
