Okay, after some conversations with a number of people whose opinions and expertise I respect, I’ve decided that having daily email digests for our forum is too important to go without, and I’m going buy this tool.

When I set up this site, which is a fairly complex site — it’s a content management system, social media platform, with a forum, and a blog, that features dynamic content from various sources, and sends out SMTP emails — I didn’t realize that the forum software didn’t have the capability to send daily digest emails. I assumed it would be a basic part of the forum (I know, never assume!). It really should have that functionality built-in. So finding out that the only option is paying a developer around $200 a year when I’ve already invested around $3,000 in the site, seemed a bit much. @lamia6, who is experienced building and maintaining these kind of sites, thought that the developer’s price is really high, but the reality I face is, it’s the only option for this platform that does this function that is actively maintained (that’s critical).

I’d love your thoughts on this. I would hope that I could have this enabled before the end of the month, or at least, by the first week of November.
