Kirk shared a few observations with me after using the forum. One of them reflected a very simple thing that’s easily fixed. He found it confusing that people were quoting him without using quotes.
I agree with him that it is a confusing practice likely to confuse others not from the Cakewalk Forums as this community grows. As a recommendation (as opposed to a rule), try to use quotes when you’re using someone else’s words so that community members (including developers) know that the words in your posts are not your own. I don’t think you have to worry about attributing them to the brand the post is about — I think that will be inferred.

I am confused. When you say “people are quoting him without using quotes”, are you talking about quoting things he has said on other forums, or quoting his posts like I have done yours. Because, quoted posts are currently set apart from the follow up post text by a vertical grey bar and indented text. Not sure that quote marks would really add anything. Also, I did not see anyone quoting Kirk at all.
This would be a clever signature if I could think of one.

I’m referring to literal quotations, not the system formatting. This group has a habit of taking copy from developer’s emails and websites verbatim and not using quotes around it. Consequently, a developer or someone unfamiliar with that habit will likely be confused over whether the words in the post are from the person who made the post or they came from the developer of the product. So for example, this is the difference. Current style:
True Samples, makers of ultra-deep Kontakt sample libraries — known for creating the world’s greatest electric piano sample libraries in existence — are offering their once in a lifetime deal on their Epic Piano library. Now only $129 US until October 29, 2024.
Quotes should be used so that the reader understands the copy is not coming from the poster but someone else. For example:
“True Samples, makers of ultra-deep Kontakt sample libraries — known for creating the world’s greatest electric piano sample libraries in existence — are offering their once in a lifetime deal on their Epic Piano library. Now only $129 US until October 29, 2024.”

That makes sense. This actually happened over in the CW Deals forums as well. More than once, it looked like Larry was endorsing a developer and a deal when in fact he was just copying verbatum from an email he received. I remember one time when a member asked why Larry was shilling for a specific developer. Larry was not. IIRC, Larry took a break after that interaction.
This would be a clever signature if I could think of one.

@satya Was this in the Deals forum or anywhere on the site? So you can post comments but not topics? Could you have skipped opting in to the site’s privacy policy? You could logout, log back in and make sure that you’ve agreed to the privacy policy. It probably isn’t the issue, as you can comment here, but just in case. I’ve sent you a PM. I definitely will help get tp the bottom of this, but I need to know a bit more to try to duplicate it and problem solve. Shoot me a PM back, or you can email me, if you prefer. You get VIP treatment!
Sorry you’re having issues.
