TL; DR
I recorded this around 3 years ago. It was the first song i started recording 20+ years after tendinitis stopped me from playing. I just sang it all the way through and for a guy with a blah voice, I think I did a decent job. I just googled the song. found the chords (I knew the lyrics) and started recording.
The Extended Version.
This is a first take. While my tendinitis ensures I’ll never get my timing where I want it, I think I did okay. I spent 12 years as a semi-pro drummer, but my first instrument I was trained on was piano, then organ, before receiving formal training through multiple drum instructors. But for a show or two when I was 18, where I was doing a job filling in for a drummer through an agent and found when I got to the gig, they expected me to lead sing or they;d cancel the show. Consequently, for one or two nights, i was the lead singer and drummer in a band, and actually had a lot of fun. People told me that my voice had a John Lennon like quality. Consequently, when I attempted to do a cover a few years ago, I decided to do a song John Lennon sang (and wrote, of course).
