I’ve been running the FaderPort 16 through its paces with Reaper/ReaSonus, Cakewalk using MCU and Harrison Mixbus 10 using MCU. Then I decided to install the Studio One Artist v6 that was bundled with the FaderPort 16. I recorded a quick drum part into the BFD bundled with Studio One and then played tracks for bass, guitar one more midi track for piano.
I’ve been paying attention to FaderPort threads on various forums for years to see if people find it truly useful. Many people try it and go back to the mouse.
I’ve been using OSC with tablets mounted near guitars, drums and keyboard. It works OK and beats needing a mouse and keyboard near the instruments. I really enjoyed using the FaderPort for tracking, it reminds me of sitting in front of the Tascam 488 I used for several years. I’m learning it before we deploy it a small studio I’m involved with.
Hi. I’ve been using my FP 16 since 2020 with Studio One 5,6 and 7 Pro.
I love the workflow, and I have the user buttons programmed to make loop selection, buses and FX channels. I use it for automations (volume, pan, plugins), but I would trade it (if I was forced) for my Console 1 (mkI).
But together, they make me feel like I’m working in a studio, turning knobs and moving faders.
Adding my Stream Deck (with macros), trackball, nOb, and TC Brickwall limiter HW, and I like my workflow even better.
All the best.
