Peter, I love ya man, but let’s take a step back from the questionable posts on other forums. I believe it’s best to stay focused on our topic and not fan the flames. Critics will always exist, and that’s just how it is. Let’s allow others to form their own opinions and take the high road by ignoring the trolling — consider it bait and rise above it.

I for one will really miss Kirk Hunter Studio products!
I have been using his libraries for several years [since the older KHS site]. KHS are high quality! I started with his the older series like Diamond (I think that is where it started for me). While older, it is still nice/useful and has some beautiful instruments. I then got Concert Strings, Concert Brass (and the v2 updates). I think I then grabbed PopRock Strings and the older Spoltlight strings several years ago. More recently (last couple of years) I grabbed Kinetic Strings Plus, then Kinetic Woodwinds Plus, which are not only FUN to play but they can add complicated ostinato patterns.
Must agree with Thor’s post “So if you have nothing get the Diamond, if you got that get the extras, I love the kinetic stuff for dramatic movie style composing as it offers a lot for quick passages”.
Yes, I will log in & backup my KHS downloads for long term storage–I do not want to stop using his libraries.
Hoping all goes well for Kirk in his post-retirement days ahead.
Thank you Maestro Kirk! Live long and prosper!

Peter, I never meant to imply that you would ever stoop to any low level of any kind. 🙂
Well, Kirk, again, I’m sorry for interrupting your thread to unload, but I’ve had a bunch of developers talk to me about Greene and his targeting of you has gone on more than a decade, and if I have one thing that absolutely sickens me, it’s bullies. So, as the guy who derailed this thread, let me try to get it back on to a positive vibe.
I’ve been telling people how you and I have had these epic, long chats where we share each others music and I think people might be blown away to hear how good of a singer you are. And also, they might understand that you have a life beyond being a sample developer. There’s a forum for sharing music, but I think it’d be cool to share something in this thread. If you’re open to it, of course.

Awesome, Kirk! Thanks for sharing that. I thought it would be cool to share, Kirk, musician, singer, composer — and my friend — with everyone here.

And a few others… some are “died in the wool” 80s inspired.

Wow!
New album soon!
https://linktr.ee/patrickwichrowskiAnyone having this issue unzipping Kinetic Percussion?
@KirkHunter I’ve downloaded twice with the same results. I get a continuous barrage of these dialog boxes. I just kill the WinZip session.
I’ve not had any issues with all the other libs.
My name is Ed. I Am still bapu though. My Studio

Is it possible that the path might be too long? Into which folder are you installing Kinetic Percussions?
This would be a clever signature if I could think of one.
Path length could definitely be a thing. Not sure if it’d help, but you might want to try unzipping with 7Zip.
7zip did the trick whereas Winzip worked for all others. Weird.

I too was a 7zip devotee until I upgraded to Win 11 Pro for my new build in April. 7Zip didn’t support Windows Explorer menu integration, but it might now. I switched to “NanaZip” which is FOSS and a 7Zip fork. You can get it on GitHub. So far been working great. Also appears in the top level right click menus.
7Zip’s supported Windows Explorer menu integration for a long time now – you just have to run it as admin for the first time to set it up… unless you mean the new Win 11 right-click menu. The workaround for that is to drag a .zip with the right mouse button (into a folder other than Downloads), and the classic menu pops up right away.

@kirkhunter As multiple community members have made posts regarding a competitor’s claims regarding this sale and I have also received PMs on the matter, could you please clarify something?
When your copy reads “New Deal is Last Chance Ever” and “This is your final chance to own the award-winning Kirk Hunter collection,” that clearly implies that these libraries will never be sold anywhere else again, either directly through you or any other outlet. As one of your competitors has challenged the truthfulness of those statements and it has resulted in multiple community members posting about it here and sending me messages, could you please clarify once and for all and then we can move on? Thanks.

Firstly, I didn’t word the original text of the sale. The team I hire to do my advertising did that, and forgot to check with me first. So… to clarify…
Once the sale is over, my site (kirkhunterstudios.com) will no longer sell my libraries. In the foreseeable future, I will not be creating new libraries for the marketplace. APD has been the only “external” site that has been authorized to sell my libraries. Should I authorize them, or anyone else to sell my libraries in the future, I will make sure that their prices are higher than my existing sale prices. Additionally, I will still provide support should that eventuality take place.
So trust me when I say that you will never get lower prices than the current sale prices from any authorized vendor.
Thanks for putting the rumor mill to rest, @KirkHunter. I appreciate your transparency.

That’s my favorite KHS library.
I go for a dry string sound. Think Eleanor Rigby — I totally am going for that sound. Most of the string sounds I have in my head for arrangements are inspired from Beatles’ George Martin arrangements, ELO (which is also inspired by The Beatles, of course), or Kansas. Back when, I don’t even know how many years ago, I came to Kirk with an idea for a library — based on a bigger KHS library — called Pop / Rock strings that went after that sound, basically, a dry string quartet. The presets on the library have much more reverb in them than suits my taste, but the great news is that it’s not baked in. You can easily use the setting on the GUI to take it out and have a really nice dry string sound. That’s exactly what I’ve done with every patch. I’ve created my own snapshots for the solo a collective string patches, removing the room (ambiance) and most of the vibrato.
FTR, I did paid consulting to Kirk maybe a decade ago; I’m not sure it warrants having to write a disclosure, but I err on the side of more transparency than less. Kirk and I have remained friends ever since and regularly have conversations about music and share each other’s music. Most of the developers I’ve consulted to make libraries and plugins I use and that’s how I got to know them and consult. I always have found it more exciting to consult to a music-related small business than a large corporation that makes products or services I might use, but not love like I do sample libraries and plugins. It’s always been a joy to help indie developers bring products I love and use to more people.

I remember seeing the video of this guy playing that library. @kirkhunter How did this come about?
Obviously, to us prog rock fans, Jordan’s a pretty heavy hitter. Up there with the greatest keyboardists of prog rock like Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman…

Peter asked how I managed to get Jordan to use Traveling Pianos. One of the guys on my advertising team knows Jordan, and asked him to try it out.
BTW, Jordan’s awesome! He’s a fan of our libraries and loved the piano and offered to do the video.
