Woo-hoh!!!! @cclarry has been working really hard to make this community as good as can be, then @satya showed up and took over when cclarry went on vacation and now we have @VstOnE @Frank @mira @fretman @pseudopop @lamia6 and others pitching in. It’s awesome, We’re on track to open this site to public registration by Oct 15 and — little by little — we’ve recently been seeing our old friends from Cakewalk Forums starting to post.
Thank you to everyone for being part of this period of testing and adding new functionality. We’re nearing the site’s final state for launch. I’m still working with developers on some additional tweaks, but things are running pretty smoothly at this point.

Very candidly, starting a community from the group up on my own, not at a big brand — is something I haven’t done in decades. It was a lot easier at the publication I founded years ago because I used a software as a service (SaaS) provider to do a forum, and only focused on managing and being part of the community. While I LOVE technology, I don’t love troubleshooting and the reality of managing everything myself. But an online community like this is very much a community effort. When you post congratulations, it’s truly a congratulations to Larry for being so committed and then the others who keep posting useful content, and everyone member of this site who came here and posts. It’s not an exaggeration to say that it’s a community effort, just like a real world community. I LOVE that. I love being part of it. I love the interaction and learning about others and our different experiences and personalities. I actually even get a kick out of our quirks, I admit, I’m amused by them. I’ve enjoyed seeing Larry’s passion. Because he’s the real deal. I’ve enjoyed Bapu’s “installed” and his various observational posts. I’ve enjoyed Fleer’s silliness. And I’ve enjoyed a bunch of people just being themselves. We all bring something different to the mix and that’s what makes a community special. And we’re only beginning to see that continue here from the previous forum where most of us met.
The truth is, I’m pretty happy just to have a small group of people here — although we want to see more folks posting. This site doesn’t need 50,000 members to be successful for me. If it had 90 people who enjoyed it, found it useful — who found it brings something special to their lives — I would feel it was worth my effort. This is, a different kind of community. We’re only starting to see people post from our little group of ex- and current Cakewalk Forum users. As people become more acclimated with this site, it’s only going to make this community better.
I’d encourage everyone to nudge their friends here to start posting. Yes, when the site allows public registration, we’ll surely see growth. But that group of friends we all made at Cakewalk Forums is a wonderful group of people and they will always be special to me. All of you were my greatest motivation to take an idea I wanted to do for more than a decade and finally do it. But if there’s one person who day after day never stops, really the foundation that makes this whole thing work, it’s clearly been my and your friend @cclarry . I realize that I may sound like a broken record (there’s a dated reference!), but I cannot overstate how important Larry has been to this and is to this, nor can I overstate my gratitude to him.
