Musio 1 year Subscription $74 US reg. $99
NOTE FROM PETER I bought a Musio 1 perpetual license on a Black Friday deal last year, and it is easily one of the best sample library / VST bargains I’ve ever taken advantage of. In short, while Musio is an exceptional and unparalleled value, IMO, it is a different beast than the deep sampled, highly scripted libraries with lots of presets / snapshots in the Kontakt versions of the same libraries that Cinesamples sells. It doesn’t offer presets for the included libraries. But it does offer great-sounding sample libraries that I believe will satisfy the vast majority of hobbyist and even many semi-pro composers and musicians. I would say that for MOST of the libraries, the depth of the included sample libraries is great for my needs. Most of the group knows that I’m in love with Wurlies, but I would not recommend Musio 1 for its Wurly library. I definitely will probably never use it when I own Kontakt Wurly libraries that are far superior with the dynamics of a real Wurly. Piano in Blue is definitely not anywhere near the sound of the Kontakt version demos, which clearly were made with the help of a effects that ARE NOT included in Musio, so that was a big disappointment for me and I want to point that out for others who are drawn in by that library. Finally, I certainly wouldn’t put Musio guitar and bass libraries anywhere near the same level of realism as Orange Tree Samples or Ample Sound guitar and bass libraries, so if you’re looking for super realistic guitar and bass libraries, comparing them to those two developers, Musio really doesn’t compare in that area (consider that Evolution uses extremely detailed sampling of things far beyond basic notes, extensive scripting and physical modeling).
Now Hans Zimmer uses one of the aforementioned developers — I can’t say which — but I don’t foresee him using Musio as an alternative or even the Cinesamples’ Kontakt versions. That’s just not something where they can deliver the same level of product. What does shine in Musio 1? The strings, brass, and woodwinds. If that’s all that was included, Musio 1 would still be a fantastic value at this price. The jazz drum kit sounds great, but really lacks detail and isn’t set up for electronic drums. Later this year, I’m going to be adding reviews to LinkedMusicians. Until then, I wanted to give a mini review here. I think whenever we put up any kind of paid product, it’s valuable to have those who own it weigh in. So if you own or subscribe to Musio, please share your candid thoughts whether or not they’re similar to mine. I am 100 percent cool with anyone with any point of view, as long as it’s what they truly believe and it isn’t the result of undisclosed compensation or undisclosed biases. When I know devs, have consulted to a dev, I always disclose it, so that if someone believes — right or wrong — that my relationship could bias me, they’re aware of the relationship and make that call. This is very different than how influencer marketing and influencers work, as they are being used, at cost to the developers/brands, as promoters for their products and provided with free product, gifts, including money paid directly or in the form of sponsorships, in return for delivering promotion for the product.

Wasn’t it $150 for BF?
Exactly. That made it irresistible for me. I told myself I wasn’t going to buy anything over 50 bucks for Black Friday and went over $500. I’m extremely happy with both Musio and Spitfire Abbey Road Iconic Strings 2. I paid $179 for the Spitfire library and it recently went on sale for $149. So not everything was cheaper on Black Friday.

I bought Musio1 for $149 last Black Friday. Thanks @Peter for the suggestion. I have been looking for something like this.
Something weird happened to my Musio1 account and license. After playing for a few days in December I didn’t use it for a few weeks.
In January this year I decided to download some libraries. I realized that my account was deactivated and my license had disappeared. I contacted support to ask what happened to my account. They were not sure why my account was deactivated and there were no traces of my license. I was asked to send them the Plugin Boutique receipt and they promptly deposited a new Musio1 license in my account, but no explanation was given about what had caused this glitch in my account.
I haven’t opened the Musio app for 2 weeks. I hope I will not get another surprise.
I have to say Tina Guo Cello is amazing.
Unfortunately I don’t have enough time to try all the libraries but I really like what I have seen so far.

I bought a licence a while back, but haven’t used it much (due to life getting busy, rather than anything to do with the product). I opened Musio just now to do a quick check, and it detected my licence. So hopefully it was just a one-off glitch.
One thing about Musio that I really don’t like, is when the Internet infrastructure was being worked on in my neighborhood and we had two days of hours long outages — a week ago — Musio wouldn’t work. I was working on a project and ended up replacing all of the Musio tracks because of it. I will send the Cinesamples / Musio folks my feedback on that.
