There’s been a million covers of this song, but I always loved it, thought it was a great rock song that I wanted to cover back in the day, but never got a chance to do. Like everything else I’ve shared, my tendinitis ensures I’ll never be the perfectionist musician I once was, so I’ve learned to accept the imperfections. I’m mostly just trying to show my kids that I can still rock.
To all those purists out there, I start with a chord chart, I listen to the song a few times, and play by ear and memory from there (I was trained on piano, organ, drums, and guitar, but it’s been ages since I read music, so I just look at chord charts and jam.

Thanks much, Ross!
As usual, I always struggle with vocals. I played my first take on the lead vocal to my son, realizing it wasn’t very good, even for me, and I sang a little bit of the song up an octave, and he told me that sounded a lot better (I forget what it’s called, head voice, chest voice… as you can probably guess, I never had one (vocal) lesson! — I’m channeling Ferris Buehler on that one), so I sang it all the way through and kept it (the harmony was already recorded at that point).
