I was making some tweaks to the member profile pages this week. Some of the improvements include:
I was testing everything out by going through our members directory randomly and clicking to see how the changes looked for our various members when I came across a really well done profile by LM member @joonasylanne that I wanted to share. Note how he has all of his personalized elements in place and include links to his social media presence. Great job, Joonas — and I love your logo.

Here’s the dark version (my preferred way to view LM; the reverse/white type over the header image is readable in the browser, but was lost on the screenshot):

We’re currently testing the addition of featuring our member’s music playlists on their profile page.
The way we’re looking to implement it is, you simply input the URL for your SoundCloud playlist, and a player with your playlist automatically appears on your LinkedMusicians profile page. If you don’t already have a SoundCloud account, they’re completely free. You can upload up to 3 hours of your music to your SoundCloud account and create as many playlists as you like.

I added my soundcloud URL but please understand it only contains demos of transcriptions I’ve made for my classical guitar ensemble class. I did no massing/humanizing of the timing/velocity of the MIDI (although I DID make sure the fingering is accurate up/down the neck and I used the correct articulations). They are not meant to sound real. But, upon listening to them all again they don’t sound bad.
And be aware that everything put on Soundcloud is subject to AI training. This might invalidate any usage of that music in sync.

@fretman I just listened to your cover of “Isn’t She Lovely” on my phone and loved it!
Stevie Wonder is one of my all time favorite artists. I really enjoyed your arrangement.

….And be aware that everything put on Soundcloud is subject to AI training…
@Fretman That’s not correct and it’s really important to understand that.
What happened is some random folks on the Internet decided to pretend they understood legal copy to spread misinformation which spread like wildfire. SoundCloud’s use of AI is not to train AI on your music, it’s to use AI to understand the genre of the uploaded music to better categorize it and make recommendations for the platform’s users.
In their words, their policy “was intended to clarify how content may interact with AI technologies within SoundCloud’s own platform”, including personalised recommendations, content organisation, fraud detection, and “improvements to content identification with the help of AI technologies.” After the misinformation spread, SoundCloud revised its policy statement to be clearer to the average user.

Thanks, Peter. I did more research after I posted that and I also saw their clarification. Regardless, it’s still true none of the libraries I’m part of will allow submissions that have been stored on Soundcloud. It’s becoming quite the problem.
And thank you for your kind words about Isn’t She Lovely. We played that in our recital last semester. The music director pulled out his bari-sax and improvised over it. Came out rather nice, I thought. If anyone wants to see the notation, it can be found here, although it doesn’t contain any of the solos.
