Sounds great. I was going through the new album and I need to spend some serious time listening to it this week. I have been compiling a Mixtape of my favorite Devine Lie songs that I hope to have out this week.

I’ve already got both of your bands on the first LinkedMusicians Mixtape and also plan on doing one of Bapu’s music.

I want this site to be a lot more than deals — yes, we’ll always have a great deals forum — but I want this to be a place for musicians to share their work, a place where they can find encouragement, learn, stay up the craft of songwriting, music theory, discovering new artists and making new friends and possibly collaborators. We’re not growing quickly, but we are significantly larger than the Cakewalk Forum early adopters group we started with. As long as people continue to tell others about the community (please do! Especially tell people who like to post deals, so I can work on other stuff!), we’ll continue to grow, and I want to do some things to bring more activity to the song sharing section. Part of that is the Mixtapes. I’m also contemplating how to incorporate the Mixtapes better into the site, perhaps featuring the SoundCloud player on various pages of the site.

I think people like the two of you represent very high-level level talented musicians/songwriters and I want to make sure that our community is aware of your work. If you want to check out what I’ve put together so far, it’s here (eventually, I’m going to do an email and will include it as a feature). You’ll see other singer/songwriters that are part of this community that I think you’ll agree are very talented and making excellent music:

hope you are keeping well – sorry i have been a bit quiet but I decided to “re-issue” an album I did back in about 2013 – I pulled the original album in 2013 together from work I had lying around as it was all a bit of a rush – i was doing it for a Charity that helps save Rhino’s – something very dear to me – I even own a company producing Tech Stuff to catch the Poachers – whilst that has been successful, even though we have tried we still can’t find a Tech solution to catching the real criminals, the Politicians!!!!

Anyway time moves on, and I have been in conversations with another Charity, so thought I would update and reissue the old album – actually it turned into an almost complete re-record – I never did the first album properly, so it seemed like a good idea just to re-record it – everything except the vocals – and of course, as I love making work for myself, i rummaged through the old archives from around the same time, found a couple of new/old tracks, re-recorded those and added them as well! So all now properly recorded, mixed and mastered – it does sound great.

Anyway just waiting for the CD’s to be produced, then we give the lot to the Charity for them to sell to raise funds – last time raised quite a bit so I’m hoping for something similar this time.

Also I have a brand new album on the go – finished writing it now, just sorting out the lyrics then we’ll get onto finalising that – no rest for the wicked!!

this mixtape idea I think is great – it is strange in a way that you came up with this as I had been thinking recently it was probably time I did a “Greatest Hits” (he he he) sort of thing for Devine Lie – we really have a large back catalogue, and I thought it would be fun to select say 12/14 of my favorites.

Are the Mixtapes Audio only or could it be say 12/14 videos?

There’s absolutely no reason it couldn’t be videos, too. Why not? I only picked audio, because that’s what most the musicians/songwriters in the community have available. Although, I know that Devine Lies has a lot of videos for songs and so does Reid Jamieson and CVM (what are the odds that an artist I’ve been a massive fan of for more than a decade finds this community?). If @bapu has videos, I’d definitely put those up. So, I could easily put together my favorite songs in YouTube videos collections of Devine Lie, @reidjamiesonmusic, @Bapu, and @nicblanc on the LinkedMusicians YouTube channel. Actually, once you said it, it was like — of course we need to do this! So thanks for the suggestion. Plus, I tagged a bunch of other LM community members, so now I’m on the hook to deliver! Just give me some time to get this done, but I am going to commit to it right now!
