On this day in 1949, Marc Bolan (born Mark Feld), English guitarist, singer, and songwriter best known as the lead singer of glam rock 70s band T. Rex was born. A pioneer of glam rock, his band had numerous Top 40 UK and US singles, but the one that they’re most known for is 1972 US No.10 single Bang A Gong, (Get It On). Bolan died in 1977 at age 29, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
