@nishyp We try to avoid rumors at this site, but considering that you’re sharing what Chris posted on his Discord, I’ll let it stand.
I’ve been through a vendor that didn’t pay for nearly a year. Fortunately, during the late summer (this year), they started making payments. I’ve just started signing up with some affiliate programs, and am on Plugin Boutique’s program, so this situation is of significant interest to me. I do know some developers that use Plugin Boutique, but I haven’t reached out to them to find out if they’ve had any issues.
So, I absolutely empathize with Chris /Audio Damage and any other developers who have had their payments delayed. That’s a rotten situation. I know there’s a ton of misinformation on the various music forums about the industry. It’s actually been growing and doing well. But Beatport’s parent company has been doing a bunch of acquisitions and may have ended up with some cashflow problems — which is hopefully very temporary.
As far as consumers, I wouldn’t be freaking out and fear purchasing from Plugin Boutique at this point. If they fail to deliver, you can easily go through your credit company to get a refund. But I’ve purchased from them in the last couple of weeks and everything went smoothly as it always has. If these rumors spur people to boycott Plugin Boutique, it could end up putting them into financial jeopardy. That is why brands sue forums and people who spread rumors — if untrue — and why posting rumors violates our community’s rules. But again, I’ll keep it up for now, and know that I don’t think there’s any ill intent in posting it — at most, I would delete it — no one gets a demerit or anything like that. This little group has been a bunch of really civil, well behaved folks. I just want to limit any potential liability, that’s all.

Hey Peter,
Apologies, definitely no ill intent behind me sharing the screenshot, I was just trying to add context to what I assume Fleer was referencing. However, I can see how this could cause some issues.
I popped into the Audio Damage Discord earlier and saw a few updates regarding all this:
PB’s payment has shown up as “pending” in Audio Damage’s bank account so looks like all is well.
The issues may have something to do with the MyCommerce / Digital River drama.
Anyway, apologies once again hope I didn’t stress anyone out too much.

Understood and I’m not stressed out. The site has a policy against spreading hearsay rumors, as they create liability for the site. Consider that I’ve led digital marketing — including corporate websites and social media — at a few major brands and was responsible for the legal policies of the site — I even drafted them for two of those companies, one a major electronics brand everyone here would know. I just don’t want to be hit with a lawsuit. I’ve been doing this stuff for three decades and have been through that stuff, including providing testimony in a very high profile dot com case in the 00s. When companies sue for libel, the first party they go after is the site where the message was sent and the people responsible for spreading it — so a site owner will get a subpoena to turn over a poster’s IP address, email, and any identifying information. I think the average person doesn’t realize how easy it is to track them down (that is, those not using a VPN and other methods to hide their identity, which most users don’t use anyhow).
I deleted an earlier thread — from someone else and not put up with any ill intent — because it was hearsay, from two anonymous newly registered people on KVR mainly, and it became malicious, saying that they wanted to harm a company’s reputation, so that ill intent makes it even worse if there was a libel suit. I’m not giving anyone demerits or anything! I just promised my wife that I’d have smart policies that keep us from getting sued. Anyhow, way too much inside baseball stuff, but I prefer being transparent about the policies of the site and logic behind them.
